The Poughkeepsie Tapes

The Poughkeepsie Tape is a mockumentary about a serial killer known as the water street butcher that sent the entire area into a panic. It's a simple plot done pretty okay and brings something disturbing that will make you uncomfortable especially with the subject matter. The film tells the story about the horrid killer in Poughkeepsie, New York, through interviews and footage of the killers home diy snuff films found in his home. Now when I first heard about this film I had already an idea what it was about and some of the character designs thanks to YouTube and Tiktok. So I thought I knew what I was in for, absolutely not. It's a disturbing film that talks of SA, kidnapping, of course murder, mutilation and so much more shit that had my draw dropping. This movie shows you how gross and depraved this killer is and plays around with the different forms of old Victorian theater. The killer is only ever shown with a bird like mask like this. It's very interesting seeing how the killer too changed his MO to throw the cops off his scent. But the thing that is mostly talked about too is how the killer kidnapped a girl named Cheryl Dempsey. Kept her for months and forced her to take on the name "slave". He didn't have her help with the killings but made her watch/kept her for his own fucked desires.

But it's a good movie and I do highly recommend it if you're into that sort of thing. I'd rate it a 7 outta 10 spookies, it play's more on the fear of being watched/the unknown. SO it freaked me out a bit but it's not as bad as everyone says it is. Stay weird!!!! <3
