Not sure exactly how old I was when I would start staying up incredibly late to watch [adult swim]. InuYasha was a show that had immediately grabbed my attention. The art, the jokes and the serious moments had me completely sucked in. I loved the songs, the characters and the storyline. Even the not so serious episodes were worthwhile, like Shippo being challenged by the Thunder Bros little brother (ha!).
Of course, like a lot of people, I tend to love the villains. With that being said, Naraku and Kagura are my favorite characters. Kagura resonated deeply with me because she was created by this monster and all she wants to be free from him. She has her own objectives and her own desires but she's stuck in this endless cycle of being controlled by someone who doesn't care about her will. I wanted for her and Sesshomaru to end up together so badly! Kagura also has the coolest way to transport herself around feudal Japan! That feather, ah, I would love to be able to ride around on a huge fluffy feather.
When I decided to start cosplaying, I knew I had to cosplay Kagura! I ordered a wavy wig and styled it, the hot pink contacts and the kimono. The earrings were purchased on Etsy (I wish I could remember the shop name). I found the feathers at a lake.
