Late stage capitalism is a leach upon the modern world and the few good people it has left. Capitalism does not reward those who work hard. It rewards those with the adequate lack of morals to do as they please for their own good. The mere beauty of a tree means nothing. The life it brings bears no weight on society. The fruit it holds is only worth the money a human can sell it for. The beauty of a forest is only worth the eyes which can see it. And it's timber can only be seen as "productive" to society, when it's host has been slaughtered.
The mere fact a tree exists and is beautiful means nothing to the capitalist mindset all of humanity has been subjected to. It may only be seen to have worth if that worth may benefit us. Liberals who fight for the restoration of the forests, and Republicans who fight for its destruction are not as far apart as their petty bickering would imply. Both believe that a forest only bears the value it bears upon humanity. Either in its timbre, or the improvements it will bring to the quality of life for humans.
The quote is not mine. I can not remember where I saw it, but it spoke to me. The tree is dead. And the girl puts her hands up for an apple.
Live trees bear no profit.
My father works in finance. One big international play-pretend, but besides that, I was at a music store. I was buying books, and I played the pianos. Out of the goodness of the shopkeepers heart, she gave me a stack of books for free (which in themselves where made from the corpse of a tree). When I got home and showed my dad, he could not help his instinct to believe that the shopkeeper had given me those books purely to secure a customer in the future.
In the mind of a capitalist (all of humanity), there are no good-deeds. There are acts of "kindness", in which he who plays expects payment. There are no good-deeds. Only transactions. All of the world has been placed on the shoulders of numbers which mean nothing. Gold which is worth nothing. And above all the idea that we own the world. We have the right to foster off land. And resources. Which both in themselves mean nothing. Nothing means anything. It's all made up. The only thing that is not made up is the emotions us humans feel. Alas. That takes little consideration in the growth of capital. And if it does, it is mealy, a "transaction".
I'm am not a communist. If I go to the high-streets of Bucharest and scream my love for communism, I've screamed my love for a right beating. That enough is proof there's no place in this world for communism. A Communist and a Capitalist walk into a bar. The bartender says: "Running a special today! Two whisky and a burger. One dollar!". The Capitalist says: "I don't believe you. You're up to something.". The Communist says: "I don't believe you. I've not seen food in months.".
Extremities bring out the worst for and from humanity. The only true spectrum, is our emotions, and their respective expression on to others.
