power outages, shows, and other fun stuff

hey all, theres a bomb cyclone ravaging the pacific northwest right now. the power went out at the grocery store TWICE while i was there. and the winds are supposed to get to 65 mph. so since i dont have any power i might as well talk about some cool shows i went to !!!!!!! 

[15.11.24] - moon fever / thee deception / sweet water

the opener, Moon Fever, was the heaviest band of the show. and not to get too parasocial or delusional or anything, but i swear the singer was flirting with me. he was fine as fuck too, kinda has a Spencer Charnas thing going on.

the second band, Thee Deception, was more punk-y and outwardly leftist and they played a killer set too. their guitarist gave me a sticker which is now on my guitar. this guy next to me talked to me a bit about Sweet Water and he even got me the Thee Deception setlist which was super fucking cool. i ended up talking to the guitarist when i went to the merch booth again, and he was really chill !! he saw me going crazy for them in the front row and he gave me a free shirt and i bought an EP from them !! (also bought a Sweet Water cassette for my dad since he couldnt make it). but back to the show.

Sweet Water opened with Cake & Strychnine which i went hard in the paint for. and then they played Feed Yourself which is my 2nd favorite song from them. and during the end they played Superstar and i actually went crazy. i got a guitar pick from them at the end of the show and its my prized possession.

[17.11.24] - cloud nothings / ls dunes / RISE AGAINST !!!!

the opener was great and pretty heavy but i lwk feel like they couldnt keep tempo up and it ended up sounding like noise. not to hate, i think it just comes from experience. the second band was really sick, the singer had like a Deryck from Sum 41 thing going on if he played metalcore. there were these two girls up front who clearly came here only for them because they left right after their set. which worked out well for me and the woman next to me because we could barely see. she was really nice too, made conversation with me and even complimented my tattoo !!! 

Rise Against came out to Satellite and i almost had a heart attack because that song has my favorite RA bridge ever and i almost cried. i thought these two dudes behind me were trying to mosh but they were two assholes who took my spot. but it was fine because i just went to the pit instead. i almost got water from security because i felt like i couldnt breathe but then RA played Hero of War and things slowed down.

they played a great mix of old and new stuff (although i am a little bummed we didnt get at least one song from Nowhere Gen. they played The Black Market which is my favorite track from that album, and my two favorite songs from RPM (blood-red white & blue and halfway there) and a bunch of songs from TSATW and A2R and it was fucking amazing. i literally have never gone to a better show than this one. and im gonna see them with Papa Roach next because i am just obsessed.

but, uh yeah. thats all !!! i dont really know how to end this other than to say SEE THE BANDS YOU LIKE !!!!!!!!!
