Helena Bonham Carter is all I love about fashion: A waffle

Hi! I had been wanting to write this vlog for so freakin' long, you have no idea!!! Life has been hectic and I have been so busy... I went on a productivity rampage.
Life felt like a treadmill, and when that is the case, you start living like a non‑person.
Living like a non‑person doesn't feel cute, but you know what's cute? Some indulgence and waffling. Fashion is also super cute, especially when it is unconventional and soulful, which is exactly why I've been thinking of Helena Bonham Carter's style.
From a couple weeks ago, I've been immersed in this grungy, gaminish, and ethereal way of dressing. I hope that at the end of this post I can pinpoint why these images have impacted me, but before that, I'll review some stunning pictures ;) So that you can draw inspiration too.

This looks transpires decadence in the most beautiful way. It would be really easy to make this kinda edgy outfit visually stiff or monochrome, but here we have a mauve undershirt and a periwinkle assymmetrical tiered skirt. The devil's on the details, cause' there are actually many different textures: the cozy knitwear, the airy undershirt, the paper‑ish skirt, the ribbed cuffs with the long lettuce hem and then the heavy cardigan tying everything together.

The accesories have a tint of nostalgia to them. Did you see the metal edges of the scarf? that new‑romantic silhouette and 80s quiffed hair? All vintage and perfect

This one look is eclectic in a personal way. How do I know? Try to imagine all pieces in isolation. How would you combine them to fit your mood and lifestyle? I would probably not layer it as much, what would you do? Whatever you do to fit you, that's already personal.

This is the antithesis of Inditex and I am living for it. Next, I can stay here forever darling!

Pixie cut my everything, pixie cut forever! Yes, more pixie cuts everywhere please.

Everyone should get a pixie cut once in their lives, because they have this face amplification effect that no amount of layers and money pieces can give you. This just slaps you with face!

Last year I wanted to shave my head so bad, but everyone told me that I shouldn't cause' my face is too sharp and my features too pronounced, so I was going to look "masculine" and severe. The fuck? I want to look dramatic as hell! Also, what's with society telling women that they look cuter when they hide their features? Utter nonsense.

Anyways, this shapeless velvety black shirt has so much character. The scalloped peter pan collar in a warm shade may be a small detail, but it's intelligent; because this manages to make the garment more approachable and soft with a little. So, opposite route from stiff white collar (Wednesday look) that we don't get really often in our present time of slick fashion.

Helena Bonham Carter has a penchant for movement and nothing she wears looks static, layers are free flowing and assymetrical, which also applies to the hair. This is why these looks may be "funereal", but they always have a hint of playfulness.

Did someone say "Kinderwhore"? Did someone mention Elaine Benes? Did someone bring up the flowery dresses from the field trip scene in The Craft? No? Maybe I'm just in love with 90s fashion too much and all of these references fill my head 24/7.

I love how HBC will take a little of what everyone is doing in fashion and makes it hers. I also appreciate the modest hemline as someone who loves Kinderwhore but doesn't feel comfy with the gorgeous mini dresses.

This is the 90s, these flower dresses are a staple, and it would normally look frumpy... But it gets elevated by a bright coloured cardigan that adds youthfulness. Sorry, those boots? So fun. Then you have the edge of the naturally textured hair.

So, so far: Edge, playfulness, and movement again.

Also, I so should make one of this for The Craft >:)

Excuse me? She looks like she stole everything from a Betsy Johnson's autumn collection in the 90s. The dull charcoal jacket is doing so much... I thought it was velvet, but it's just and impermeable. This is unfair guys, mine doesn't look like that xd

I think it is clear that this outfit is doing a grungy and antique interpretation of goth with these dark hues and the cameo choker. The shape of the dress is a little reminiscent all the erroneous interpretations of the 1920s that I love.

For some reason, the intricate details of the beading on the dress pannels are giving literal gothic royalty but in the 90s, so it's better. The empire waist also helps with the royal feeling of this look. But then, I imagine this without the coat and she becomes a hunted porcelain doll.

This is perfect in my eyes, sorry.

Now, the last outfit of the post:

I could have reviewed any other grungy outfits, but I wanted this appreciation to have range.

So, here we have the same elements as before, but somehow it looks more polished and glamorous. Yes, this shows that grunge can be glam. We even have the glass tint matching the garments again (so adorable).

This outfit exudes drama, boldness. The colours are brighter, the textures even more contrasting, the makeup is heavy and even the hair dye is in colour blocks. Elements are not in complete harmony in this look, and that commands your attention to every single elaborated bit: This is why the style is suddenly so dressy.

Everything is so much... And I'm here for it.

That's all folks! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and that you saw how HBC is a fashion I C O N

So tiny, yet so bold. So dynamic, yet so decadent.

Bye xoxo
