Noisecore, Noisegrind, Gorenoise, HNW, Death Industrial, Power Electronics? Antimusic is Nonsense.
So to start off here, I am in love with exploring all kinds of "anti-music" that there is, even ones that aren't strictly harsh noise based. I started off with genres of EDM such as Hardcore, Neurofunk, etc. I moved onto metal, and hardcore punk. And my love for harsher genres of music never left me. Heard of Harsh Noise but never actually got into it until now, especially after exploring genres such as Gorenoise, Death Industrial etc.
The reason why I am writing this blog to begin with is to write down my own thoughts, and opinions on harsh noise and antimusic in general.
Noisecore:
(I should listen to this more of tbh, but I did however listen to Gerogerigegege)
This is a genre of hardcore punk that combines elements of harsh noise with it, and if you guess yeah, it sounds pretty much like your ears are being grated, but that's the best thing. It exists, so nobody but noise listeners can listen to.
There is not a lot of skill, or anything to really create this which is what makes this awesome, no genre constraints, etc. Cranking that amp to the loudest you can make, blastbeats, etc. As long as it's noisy that's it. And if you don't have instruments, well just fucking use a DAW then. Same thing, but in a DAW.
Noisegrind:
Kinda of just the same thing as noisecore but with grindcore elements, so if you like grind, but decided that you also like harshnoise too, well this is the genre for you. Gonna be honest, haven't listened to a lot of noisegrind yet, but the times I did, and to be honest it's kind of amazing, just sheer
Gorenoise:
(Don't look in images if you search this up, also recommend MAIGORENOISE for a lot of kinds of gorenoise that they have censored the album covers for your viewing leisure so you can listen to it, and get into it more.)
If you like goregrind, but decided that it's not harsh enough, well you get gorenoise. Gorenoise combines Harsh Noise with Goregrind, programmed blastbeats, high bpms, vocals that are either edited/pitched to the point of not being recognizable or gargling/vomiting/toilet sounds, unrecognizable riffs. Or if you want just get rid of the riffs entirely and just have the vocals, either way it's gorenoise.
(I also create my own gorenoise btw, but yeah my favorite pop music genre so far/j)
HNW:
(Amp that up baby, distort it beyond recognize, create a wall of noise, destroy people's ears)
Probably the genre that you listen to at your job always/j
This is probably my favorite non goregrind, hardcore punk, grindcore, influenced genre, and influenced a lot of genres/styles over the time, and probably me too. If harsh noise didn't exist, non of the other genres I listed wouldn't exist either.
Just that texture, wall of noise, tones, distortion, and how people manipulate or use noise in general. Everything about it is fucking amazing.
Death Industrial:
This is probably the most noisy gloomy, depressing, and darkest genre of industrial that existed, this in fact came from the power electronics scene, often combining Noisy textures with industrial, and has combined a lot of other influences other genres too. Often consisting of drones, textures, harsh loops, screamed vocals.
A lot of focus is rather on the tone, atmosphere, etc, without it it wouldn't really be death industrial.
This is probably my favorite subgenre of industrial so far, and especially with how it feels.
Listen to noizeclot, uboa, and total. Recommended.
Power Electronics:
This genre combines elements of Harsh Noise, and Industrial, often using screeching, sub pulses, textures, high frequency squealing, and harsh vocals.
I haven't really listened to a lot of power electronics in my opinion, but the way people use the techniques to create atmosphere, tone, etc, or just really anything is amazing. Especially Ramleh, the way his music, and sounds are is just jaw dropping.
Anyway don't really have much to say on this but yeah.
