Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ Megurine Luka - CV03) is the third Vocaloid 2 released on January 30, 2009, by Crypton. His surname combines Meguri (巡, circular or around) and Ne (音, sound), while the name Luka invokes the homonymous Japanese words of "Nagare" (流, flow) and "ka" (歌, song) or "ka " (香, smell), which refers to "songs to all the world as the scent spreads." His voice bank was based on the voice of seiyuu Yū Asakawa (浅川悠) who lent her voice to this cold and somewhat "mysterious" character.
Her introduction was first, by the code (CV03), and her existence was made known during the promotions of the Kagamine debut and was intended to be the last of the vocals of the CV series, in January 2009 the first The letter of his last name was revealed with the promise of more information to come. On January 6 of the same year, Megurine Luka came to light. Like his previous two characters, Crypton announced Luka's vocal database as "Japanese".
However, as with Rin Kagamine, a second voicebank was shown shortly before its release that gave her the ability to sing in English. At the time of Luka's appearance, there was a high growth in interest in English-speaking Vocaloids. Luka offers two languages for the price of one to Japanese Vocaloid users, giving them the opportunity to test their capable English skills. His English voicebank was produced in a series of experimental recordings. The recording process took place over 8 months to produce the Voicebank.
Crypton chose its name to express its hope that it will go beyond borders and cultural barriers. Luka was designed by Japanese illustrator Kei, who had previously created the designs for Hatsune Miku and Rin and Len Kagamine. However, unlike previous characters in the series, her costume is not based on a school uniform. Just a few days after its release, many songs were produced with his voice. In Vocaloid's weekly top 70 (February 2, 2009), many of Luka's songs appeared in the Top 30, heavily beating the most well-known Diva of this show Hatsune Miku.

Append
Luka is the next member of the voice character series to receive an Append. Recording began in early 2011 for Megurine Luka Append. It was confirmed that the project will start just finished at MEIKO; later he would be Kaito after Luka. The Append for both her and MEIKO was later reported to be much quieter than other updates.
Luka Append's first commercial use is on the album "VOCALOID 民族調曲集", she sings only the song "星空と雪の舞踏会 (Zeal Mix) / このり". Later, VOCALOID APPEND used the beta version of Luka's Append.
A video featuring samples from the VOCALOID APPEND album was uploaded on December 17, 2011.

Vocaloid 3
The VoiceBanks were expected back in the Vocaloid 2 era and recording was completed long before the Appends were officially confirmed. Since Vocaloid 2 is now retired this will be released for Vocaloid 3.
Crypton Future Media is exploring the possibility of a cost-effective way to add English Voicebanks to their other Vocaloids.
Marketing
Unlike Crypton's previous CV series mascots, his costume is not based on a school uniform. Despite the inclusion of English, Megurine Luka was not aimed at a global audience and was aimed at Japanese manufacturers.
USA Debut
Along with Miku's US debut, other Vocaloids from the CV series made their debut alongside her. Megurine Luka appeared alongside Miku at the Los Angeles concert. [1]
Megurine Luka 3D
A 3D data package for Shade 12 Basic software was announced as Megurine Luka 3D. The package is available in English. [2] A Blu-Ray with the PV also went on sale on June 8, 2011, the video was created by Ikeda. This is the only package in the entire 3D software package so far for Vocaloid. Includes four complete sets of clothing, used in ensemble poses and more. [3]
Figurines
Luka has several figures based on her. Exclusively figures were sold during the 2009 Megurine Luka Treasure Festa event. During the 2009 and 2010 seasons, she appeared in sets of Good Smile racing figurines. A special figurine of Luka was made on the basis of the PV "Toeto".
LincEnglish
LincEnglish is collaborating to make use of Megurine Luka and Miku Hatsune to make their English voicebanks and use them to teach Japanese children "English". Lessons are "coming [sic] soon," according to the announcement. [4]
Use
Until now, due to the number of words he can pronounce in both languages, he has not had a problem in Japanese, just like the other Vocaloids. However, his English is more limited than that of the purely English Vocaloids, making him more difficult to handle. As a bilingual Vocaloid, he has a superior ability to handle both languages. However, an additional data library of English words for your English dictionary is available [5]. Its Voice Bank has the possibility of being handled in English, as well as a normal English Vocaloid, so a user who can solve the basic problems of pronunciation in English will have no problems adapting it to singing in other languages.
Overall, Luka serves to bridge the gap between the two languages and has proven her appeal as a Vocaloid. She serves as an ideal Vocaloid for English-speaking users who plan to use Japanese Vocaloids and vice versa for users who are not as accustomed to speaking English and planning on using English Vocaloids.
Luka is one of the softer Vocaloid2 voicebanks and is not as agitated or high-pitched as his CV series predecessors. [6]
She along with Sonika achieve the highest 2nd note reached by a Vocaloid which is #D5, the highest being common by Miku Hatsune and Prima at #E5.
She is also unrealistic due to belonging to Crypton's CV series. He generally has less versatility than previous Vocaloids and his soft voice can create problems with pronunciation and clarity.

Curiosities
Some Vocaloid fans comment on hearing her sing better than English Vocaloids. However, as is often the case with this, fans are often unaware of the limits of their English dictionary compared to English-only Vocaloids. While she has indeed sung many songs in English, various techniques have had to be applied to achieve the same level of success that an English Vocaloid is able to achieve more easily.
She is given a sexier approach than previous Vocaloids. This is due to both his age and having the body of an adult.
According to its designer KEI, due to its bilingual program, its design was made to be asymmetrical, so from different angles it would look different.
Its design incorporates wind instruments. The gold curl on the chest design imitates wind instruments and a circulatory organ. The jewel on the neck represents the humidity in the air and the water droplets. '[7]]
Unlike other vocaloids, his height is 1.67 cm and his weight is 55kg.
