A brief rundown of Download’s 2025 headliners:
Green Day- having seen them live myself, I absolutely believe they deserve this spot. Every song is a catchy mix of punk ideals and that nostalgic pop-rock sound, plus their live shows are full of energy from beginning to end. Often times a speech about politics is embedded into their set. Hoping to see more of their older content rather than their newer music.
Sleep Token- reaching mainstream success on TikTok, many people, especially the older generations, have mixed feelings about them and what genre they truly are. While I enjoy a few of their songs, it just sounds as if they were looking to make a catchy 15 seconds for a viral audio online (it worked so I can’t fault them) but I can think of bands I believe to be more deserving of this spot.
KoRn- if you’re going, this would be the headliner I’d recommend not skipping. The influence of KoRn in not just nu metal, but other metal and even pop culture such as South Park is undeniable. If their consistent fame since their debut album 30 years ago didn’t influence you to check them out, their distinct sound and wild live shows absolutely would.
