hii!! its a school night and im extremely bored. ive been involved in lots of subcultures as i grew up! if u have seen my about me then you would know that ive been scemo (scene & emo) for most of my life! i like to say im mentally emo but physically scene yknow? but anyway, today im gonna tell u abt (from personal experience and knowledge) the differences between emo and scene, there subcultures and where they stem! now, while i did say ive been scemo for most of my life, i wasnt big into the subculture until around 8th grade maybe late 7th grade? which was abt 3 years ago but i was heavily influenced by the aesthetic and music lol so some things i say may be wrong srry ;^;]
anyways, i hope u like this blog!! plz leave kudos and comments!!!!!!
emo
ive been emo for most of my life (if not all of it) bc i grew up with a sister who was emo when i was a kid and lots of stuff was going on at home lolz but anyway! a common thing in this subculture is the fashion and the music!
fashion such as: tight clothes, band tees, skinny jeans, vans or converse, fringes (most commonly), straightened hair, studded belts, dark colors, etc.
the music is also very prominent! the word emo stems from "emotional hardcore" which stemmed in the mid 80s or early 90s (when it gained popularity) with songs that had emotional or introspective lyrics or vibe to them.
bands/artists such as: sunny day real estate, my chemical romance, the get up kids, taking back sunday, the used, paramore, rites of spring, picture me broken (rlly good band i def recommend them), panic! at the disco, fall out boy, pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens, motion city soundtrack, all time low, etc.
there r some people who believe the og emos who came from the post-hardcore scene and emos that came from its peak in the 2000s r different. now me personally, its a waste of time to use different phrases bc to me its rlly annoying. emos who stemmed from the peak in the 2000s can be called 'mall emos' but i feel like just saying ur emo is easier, THATS JUST MY OPINION THO!!!!! do what u want, we hav free will :P
scene
im currently rlly big into scene!! i was into scene when i was rlly young when i had free internet access so most of scene is actually rlly nostalgic to me now.
scene is like emos colorful younger sister. its a genre within emo and was also at its peak around the same time when it emerged in the 2000s-2010s. scene is more so centered around the fashion more than the music and bc of that scene kids in the 2000s were often considered posers
fashion such as: tight clothes, skinny jeans, bright colors, bows, tutus, kandi, fringes, colorful hair, etc.
music is involved in the scene, however scene isnt a music based subgenre!!! its mostly based on fashion (as stated above) but the genre scene kids listen to mainly is crunk which is like electronic rap mixed with elements of metal plus hiphop.
bands/artists such as: brokencyde, dot dot curve, millionaires, scotty vanity (hes awesome), 3oh!3, metro station, i set my friends on fire, amy can flyy, attack attack!, disko warp, breathe carolina, jj demon, etc. (scene kids also listen to some of the same bands/artists as emos do!)
so, whats the prominent difference between the two?
the easiest way to understand the difference is that one is mainly prominent with music (emo) and the other is prominent with fashion (scene).the two are mainly polar opposites based on common interests in the subgenres and what there centered around. however, some elements are similar because scenes a genre within emo.
ok im finally done! plz excuse spelling errors or anything that may be incorrect, i tried my best with this LOL. i hope this was helpful lol
also, i add like everyone back so if u wanna add me send a request ill probs accept it
