to anyone who hasn't heard of it, Canada's Wonderland's an amusement park in Ontario. I like to go with my friends/family when I can :3 during Halloween they hardcore decorate the park and hire actors in sfx makeup to scare guests. fun stuff! I've wanted to check it out for a while, but haven't really gotten the chance to go until now. my advice to anyone attending next year, or just general advice you can apply to any of these Halloween events:
- bring a small bag!! I was totally caught off-guard by the policy making it mandatory but i really should've known. I guess Halloween events warrant the extra security? but small bags are more convenient anyway. you can keep track of your stuff that way, too ^_^
- HYDRATE. obviously this can be applied to any kind of outing but you'd be surprised how distracted you can get. exhausting yourself at these things is super easy. drink lots.
- an extension to my last point, SNACK. bring calorie-heavy foods or carbs along since they get you the energy you need. it helps if you go to a place that sells food, but not everyone can handle those amusement park prices...
- wear layers. whether you hate the cold or revel in it (I'm the latter) we all get affected by it the same way. if you overheat, you can always shed a layer :D very snake
- bring a buddy! perhaps even more than one... this helps with general safety obv, but also with the fun factor, especially if you're stuck waiting in a long line in the cold. I'm really glad I pulled my friends along O(∩_∩)O
- find a map and plan your time in advance! me and my friends figured out a route to hit up every major zone of the park. if you're good with math and know the place well you can work out the best timing for every attraction, but even a small plan goes a long way
- make a list of things to do! easy way to plan. make sure it's achievable, and leave room for spontaneity.
- eat on the go! best way to budget time, multitask!! if you know you'll be waiting a while, find games to play with your buddies mentioned in #5. we played charades!
- take pictures but don't get FOMO about it. if you're someone who can't get enough photos, I get you. sometimes it doesn't feel like the trip's complete without them, but try your best to live in the moment !! you can always blog about it after (haha >_o)
- split up but don't separate forever. always work out places to meet back up if you're in a large group.
I had tons of fun overall! I'd really like to go again sometime, we'll see!
