vista-fication for windows 10

this is mainly for personal reference but i must share it with the world. prove that i am cool because i like a shitty os for aesthetic reasons alone. you're free to use this config yourself if you're also running win10 22h2 ^_^

shell (how windows itself looks)

• classic theme enabler: ultrauxthemepatcher
• aero enabler: dwmblurglass
• theme: aero10
• icons: 7tsp (with this icon pack but there are others online)
• start menu: open-shell (vistalike skin)
• taskbar: retrobar
• stock backgrounds + logon background
• sounds (this site has alt sound schemes as well!)

programs!!

"core" programs (stuff you're gonna be looking at a lot)

• winaero tweaker (adds back legacy ui, boot sounds, some vista/7 programs etc. and more advanced customization options)
• file explorer: oldnewexplorer and explorerpatcher
• windows media player (comes with photo viewer too)
• browser: firefox 115esr with rinfox updated

extras (stuff you might not need but are still helpful or fun to have)

• stock vista apps (paint, wordpad, calendar, calculator, movie maker, dvd maker)
• windows sidebar (for more widgets look here)
• office 2007 (keys in the description!!)
• windows live installer wave 2 (live messenger, live mail, live writer and live photo gallery)
• escargot (needs an escargot account to use!! wlm 8.5 matches with the above installer)
• windows media center
• screensavers: windows energy, aurora (screensavers planet has a bunch of others if you're not feeling the stock ones)

browser extensions (all links are for ff)

• youtube: customtube and playertube (theme), restore annotations, return youtube dislike (obvs)
• reddit: old reddit redirect (there's a bunch out there, this is just the one i have)
• anything else: stylus!! (don't use stylish, it steals your data)
