these are over a span of half a year bc I want to share the ones that absolutely wowed me. c: I read a lot of fun books (and lame ones) but these are best of the lot. ☆
so, here's my favourites from around july until now! (in no particular order)
Key Lime Sky by Al Hess
this is one of my new favourite books of all time. it's so SO good. I literally did not want to stop reading. we follow a small town resident through some sort of alien invasion, but nobody believes xem. Xe's autistic and the author did such a great job with it because xirs experiences felt so real and I found myself relating so much (I'm also autistic so I really loved this rep). the romance in it is so precious too and the world was so vivid. there was literally not a dull moment, and the characters were constantly on the move to try to save their town. if you love aliens, queer books and autism rep then this is the book!!!

The Coldest Touch by Isabel Sterling
this one is about a girl who can suddenly see people's deaths when she touches them. & about a vampire who is tasked to help her learn how to control her newly aquired skills. it's sapphic and cool because so many things were happening. the paranormal world felt very intricate n I just really enjoyed reading it!

Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant
this was a reread, and it's one of my all time favourite books. the story goes that a documentary crew & scientists went out to sea to find mermaids, only for them to never be seen again. the ship was found, but everyone on board has disappeared without a trace.
we follow said crew on their journey and throughout the book you find out what happens to them. it's really cool because it does involve mermaids, just not very lovely ones. c:

Now, Conjurers by Freddie Kolsch
this is another one that's landed itself in my all time favourite books. it's so brilliant!! we follow a coven of witches (pictured), who's lives are disrupted by one of their member's murder. they basically try to solve it and weird (paranormal) things happen. I just kept reading and reading because I wanted so badly to find out what was happening! there was not a dull moment either, every page had something going on. it's very queer too, which is always a huge plus in my book (no pun intended)

Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao
two aroace characters who find each other!! it's a love story but not in the conventional way at all. I loved how this focused on two main characters who are both aroace and how they find solace in each other. their struggles were so nice to read, which sounds weird, but I mean that as someone who's somehwere on the aroace spectrum as well it was very relatable and comforting to see I'm not alone in the feelings (or lack thereof) I experience. it was just very silly and lovely.
