In life, one of things the everyone is bound to are addictions. No matter the kind, whether they're harmless or harmful, to yourself or others, addictions can be hard. The toughest thing is to get out of an addiction, depending on how long you've been doing it for or how often you've done it, trying to stop permanently can be very difficult. To let go of an addiction, you must be dedicated to quitting. You must clear your mind of whatever it is, seek help from friends or loved ones or a counselor if you have one. You need to be willing to change, you must be strong, you must be disciplined.
One of the best ways to get over an addiction is to distract yourself, find multiple things to do in your free time that you'd usually spend on that addiction. Gaming, reading, drawing, watching TV shows, going outside, you can literally do anything. Keeping your mind off of that one thing is key to becoming a better person. Another important way to get over an addiction is to believe in yourself, you will have relapses and that's perfectly natural. Don't see your failure as you never getting past this, look at every failure as a lesson to do better. No matter how many times you fall back, you can make up for it. But no matter how small or big your relapse was, you still made a mistake, so you must give yourself the same level of discipline.
I may not know much about addictions, but I'm battling a few of my own and I understand how hard it is to overcome them. If you know someone who's suffering from an addiction, do not be hard on them. Be patient and be forgiving, be motivational, push them enough to where it's actually helping them and not just you yelling in their face to “get over it”, because it never has and never will be that easy.
I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, good luck to all of you suffering from an addiction of any kind, and remember that no matter how many times you fall, you can get back up and improve yourself.
