A lot of the people on this site have the emotional maturity of a 5 year old, im not sure if this is because you spend all your time online and forget people aren’t character AI bots, but it’s getting ridiculous.
Let me get this out of the way before anyone accuses me of something; It’s fine to have disagreements over things. You can voice them without acting like a toddler.
For context, I made a blog about how I don’t personally think “trend hopping” or extreme forms of fast fashion employed by shops like shein or temu have a place in alternative culture. Looking back, I think I could have worded some parts with more clarity, but it’s still up because it gained traction. As you’d expect, a majority of people agreed with me, and yes, there was disagreement! You can find comments on the post either only partially agreeing with me, and as far as I can remember, there’s only one comment disagreeing with me. It’s in Polish, so you’ll have to use a translator, but I responded to the comment clarifying my stance and thanking them.
HOWEVER the amount of comments I had to delete because they were WISHING ME HARM is absurd. One commenter called me a “DISGUSTING RETARD” (i am autistic,)who needed to be “DISCARDED” because I made grammar mistakes. One told me that if I cared so much I should “LIVE IN A LABOR CAMP.” That’s not even scratching the surface.
I don’t know what chronic internet usage has done to your minds to think that this is normal human behavior, but there’s a reason you sat alone at the middle school lunch table.
As Mike Tyson once said, “Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.”

i don't think its Spacehey alone with this culture lately. people in general are just becoming ruder. or at least this generation. its honestly baffling to me how people can be so openly heinous and still be supported, also very disappointing. like come on guys. just be nice jeez..

that part fr, it's not hard to be genuinely nice, they just want to be awful in the worst manner for whatever excuse they wanna give

You don't deserve these rude comments over some fashion statements!

I don't they said that to you solely because they disagreed with you, but because they are hateful towards your existence. I believe they would still say that to you even if you didn't say nothing important or incorrect.
I think this happens because there is a lot of underage americans in here, and we could divide this two groups into: a) LGBTQ+ mentally ill teenagers that want to escape the mainstream media where they're openly hated on and frequently questioned; and b) incel teenagers who are often called out for being extremely hateful towards everyone that want a space where they can be unpurposefuly hateful towards everyone. Both are running away from the mainstream so they can express themselves: one wants to be able to express themselves, the other wants to express their hate.

I don't know if my describing of american incel teenagers was comprehensible. Correction: incel teenagers (mostly boys) who are often criticised for being extremely hateful towards everyone and therefore want a space where they can be unreasonably hateful towards everyone.

That's so gross. I can't even imagine what goes through the minds of people like that. They aren't getting anywhere in life with that level of maturity.

I believe this goes for all corners of the Internet and should be talked about more! Today I saw a TikTok on mouthwaahing. The og poster had captions saying "the way I'd actually let the make the crew let me die if I was curly cs wdym he was beautiful and then turned into THIS ECT.." I responded my opinion saying j think they should handle their wording more carefully esp with burn victims (for context he had no skin hair or anything). People responded with their disagreements and I did in time. What I was expecting was a debate from a fandom around a MATURE game. I wake up the next day and someone told me to commit?? I have been diagnosed with depression for years now and am taking medicine just so you have an understanding of how disrespectful that is. It proved to me that people didn't actually care about what they were saying. They just wanted to get away with saying rude things even if someone eventually calls them out on it. Internet culture has such toxic history and issues it's genuinely insane.

Agreed! Ppl now longer understand that IRL rules and social etiquette also apply online. The internet isn't some sort of different dimension, you can still face consequences for doing/saying stupid and gross shit, even "as a joke". Anonymity has destroyed empathy.

i really think anonymity is both a blessing and a curse. Like back when i used to regularly visit chatrooms and stuff like that, people who were "ragebaiting" or "trolling" of any kind wouldnt spout racist/ableist/sexist etc stuff around. the internet has always sucked in one way or another but due to the fact that people are just much more active nowdays i feel its just gotten a million times worse?
also try explaining basic human empathy to the average internet user...
p.s sorry that happened to you stuff like that isnt easy to ignore :'(

The internet has become such an upsetting experience wherever you go, I see most people here are shocked to see this happen on spacehey but is an overall problem on the internet at the moment. Everyone is so negative and disgusting to one another, they think it's ok to say and do things they shouldn't because of the lack of consequence. It's so scary and it's sad seeing something that used to be a fun thing (interacting with people all over the world) turn into something so evil.

i fear i am on the nicer side of spachey because all my friends on here are pretty normalish and arent rude. I am not the most active on here to that may be why
I am in quite alot of fandoms that are very toxic and rude, they say slurs with actual pasts and meaning that were made to be offensive and upsetting into jokes. I dont really understand reclaiming aswell. Chronically online people really scare me because I am afraid they will dox me. I posted an opinion video about how I didnt like something that was added to one of my favorite games. The amount of threats I got was insane. People on the internet are some of the most rude and scummy people out there but sometimes ill feel bad for them. I wonder what they are going through to make them like that, sometimes ill look at their profile and see vent posts and that makes me very sad. I know they were mean but I will still feel bad for them and what they are going through. I have no idea why I commented this, im sorry if im just talking about myself TT_TT

I swear some people think they can just say whatever they want online. Chronically online people scare me for this reason. They act just immature and so childish it is insane! People will send you threats now or leak information just for saying you hate grapes but like mangos. it is just pathetic man, I'm sorry you dealt with all this.

This is so true
It’s genuinely scary I see it on Reddit a lot.
I don’t understand how it’s so easy to dox someone.
Someone had posted on Reddit about a really bad selling account on Depop. The owner of the account was insanely rude and definitely had issues. But people in the comments were so enraged by it they ended up harassing this person sending them death threats and they doxxed the Depop seller
It was so disappointing to see.
The people in the comments did get scolded for it of coarse but it’s the fact that they went that far over a Depop account.

the internet is really just some portal to games and stuff to do whatever you want without getting in too much trouble. That is where the trolls and other horrible people start to breed. The internet was a big jump in history but yet it was also a big problem in history. People have gotten so used to talking to people like nothing and not get jumped, it's so tiring. The only thing I can do is to ignore them. They're just so immature that they think opinions that don't come to terms with theirs are automatically trash. Attention, you are NOT in a kindergarten. You have consequences of your actions people!!

no literally, the immaturity on the internet continues to get worse as we rely more and more on social media. algorithms create echo chambers and people are so spoiled with the concept of everyone agreeing with them. not everyone has to agree. you have the right to be pissed but you can’t rely on name calling opposed to facts and based arguments. ignorance is taking over and dumbasses have the loudest voices.
