Mouthwashing

This Mouthwashing game has been all the rage recently and the news of it reached me. I saw it, and I noticed the extent of the hate of the fandom for Jimmy.

I get why obviously, but I can't help but feel like it's excessive, because in my opinion, anyone could become like Jimmy. Anyone has the potential. We like to claim that even in our darkest moments, we would never stoop so low ("Even our darkest moments don't make us monsters"), but none of us have ever gone that far into the abyss, and thus the comment is misplaced - it's just a cope to keep ourselves sane, in a way. The only thing separating ourselves from people like Jimmy is pure circumstance, I feel. 

So whenever I see comments like "smh sorry you had to draw jimmy" (since there's a lot of fan art/animations) and so on and so forth I feel like the comment only attacks the substance of the character; it attacks his name, his face, his identity, but not the essence of his character, because in truth, anybody could be that essence. These kinds of comments come to annoy me.

In my opinion, Jimmy is a message sent in human form, to not let envy take over and to have principles you always abide by. He's more than just a character in a game, so it really hurts my faith in humanity when I see the masses attacking his character relentlessly instead of seeing how really well-written he is.
