This is very nostalgic! Spacehey and Facebook ramble...

I was a big fan of Myspace between 2005 and about 2008, but then they changed the layout and ruined it, (thanks Mr. Murdoch).

So it's great to experience this retro Spacehey thing. I love the customisations that Myspace used to have, and now Spacehey has got them too. I never subscribed to Facebook, even back when all my friends were leaving Myspace and creating their Facebook accounts in around 2009.

What Facebook lacked in my opinion was customisation options. I remember taking my first look at it and being so disappointed - profiles all had to be bland corporate white-and-blue, the Facebook colours. You could add some photos and some black-on-white text but that was about it.

Facebook seemed incredibly dull, it was like viewing a boring spreadsheet at work or something.

Also, for a Social Media site, intended to link-up and create new friends, Facebook really failed to appreciate that the way that an individual designed and customised their profile (on Myspace), really told you a lot about that person in an instant, even from a quick glance at their Myspace profile. (Colour choices, design, background music they'd chosen etc) you could get a lot of information about that person, and whether you may want to friend them.

With Facebook, instead you'd need to spend ages scrolling through, reading reams of text (a bit like analysing a spreadsheet again). This was good for the targeted ads however, and keeping you looged onto Facebook, therefore bringing Zuck all his lovely dollars - all part of his grand plan I suppose...
