Well, October is holiday season, but admittedly I didn't do much. Mostly because safety concerns cancelled almost everything, and I didn't really feel like going to iconfest. Nor did I really have anyone to go with as friends made plans with family. But at least a new life series started!! I'm loving the twist on wild life, I can't wait to see more chaos unleash as apparently the wildcards get harder? Either way, that's about the most exciting thing happening right now. Basically a very unexciting month.
Now, vocal synth releases!! At this point this is like a staple of my blogs.
On the 9th, we got Ci-Chan as an official vocaloid6 voicebank! She started out as a vocaloid beta voicebank, but unlike Gekiyaku and Kazehiki didn't originate from an UTAU. She is inspired off of the vtuber who voices her- Ci the Jiangshi. I think she's cute! I like her and her neon color palette. Kind of reminds me of #kzn a little? But she's still very much doing her own thing and I like her.
On the 9th, we also received two new default v6 vocals- Yuina and Naoki! Honestly, not sure if I like them or not. They're okay, nothing special, decent for default vocals.
On the 11th, we got the 4th and last member of the starry court- NYL! Like the rest of the starry court- their range, voice and flexibility are impeccable. I like them a lot- they have a wonderful design and the void theme is top notch. I doubt they're my favorite of the starry court but they're amazing nonetheless.
On the 14th released like a bunch of ACE voicebanks. No one cares about ACE and I'm not interested in supporting a company that openly used generative AI. So the answer is I do not like them.
On the 16th released Topaz. She got a lot of backlash for her company being trashy and scummy, acting professional when they aren't, and being an obvious cash grab and NFT bros trying to ride on the AI train but ending up on the wrong route. It reflects in the final product. She could've had potential if not for her company and it's poor handling. Because the concept of synths inspired off of gemstones with a defining color is pretty cool, just not the way they're executing it.
On the 24th, released default synthesizer V voicebanks- Felicia and Riku! Felicia's cute- I believe she's the first operatic english voice? A few people also pointed out that she sounds kind of like Lady Gaga- and I admit, I can somewhat hear it. It's not identical, but it's pretty close. I can't wait to see how people use her, hopefully for truly operatic songs. Or pop songs in the style of Lady Gaga, either work. Riku is a nice warm tenor voice, he's lovely and a great, diverse addition to the lineup of default synthV voices. Male vocals are pretty rare on vsynth engines, so any are welcome for me.
On the 30th, we got a Hibiki Koto synthesizer V port! My firm stand on ports is that they're more than a great idea, so I do like that she has been ported there. Her voice is lovely.
That is it for this month. Nothing overly fun or exciting but hopefully next month will be more fun (it probably will not). Seeya next month, suckers.
