Yes, Alan Wake 2 still isn't on Steam as of typing, doesn't stop me from reviewing the DLC at least, I'm gonna do things differently when it comes to the DLC since I don't really want to take a while with this, so for this 2 in 1, I'll just say the DLC name and just say what I liked about it and stuff, unlike what I would usually do with the actual game (you know, rate the story, music and gameplay), mostly because of the size of the DLC, anyways, I'll get to the point now.
Night Springs: So, you remember The Twilight Zone, right? yeah this is something like that, but there's only three episodes (so to say), but let me quickly explain what even Night Springs is in the Remedyverse, Night Springs is basically the Remedyverse of The Twilight Zone that (in lore) was brought by the FBC from Control to basically ease the audience into the world of the Paranatural, however, in this DLC, it's more like Alan's attempts of writing his way of escaping the Dark Place before the events of Alan Wake 2, so the first episode, I'm pretty sure wouldn't be surprising to say it's pretty much a fan favorite, because it's pretty absurd and also kinda funny at the same time, honestly, the best way to describe it is basically fanfiction (in a good way), that's really all I can describe it, oh right, I should mention one other thing, since this DLC is kinda like a Twilight Zone thing, each episode has a different protagonist and all that, and it so happens that the protagonists look like people we already know in the Remedyverse (like Jeese Faden or Rose), but they aren't, they just share characteristics of them, which leads me into the second episode which I really like, the premise is basically a government experiment involving coffee goes wrong and "Jeese" goes to Coffee-World to find her brother, one of the reasons I kinda like it is because it reminds me a bit of Control in a way, but honestly, that goes to Lake House as well, but I'll talk about that later, and finally the third episode, it's pretty much a homage to Quantum Break which, funny enough, I have played and liked it but thought the story was kinda ok for Remedy standards (although, maybe I just like stuff like Control and Alan Wake more idk), but recently, I was thinking of revisiting Quantum Break so who knows, maybe you'll get a updated review from me sometime later, but anyways, the third episode is intriguing because it basically takes huge leaps into experimentation like it gets a bit meta at times (i.g, the episode straight up has a webcomic during the game), but it also expends a bit on the Remedyverse to the point where the more I think about it, the more I think it's a bit similar to Everything Everywhere All At Once, at least, that's the vibes I had from it, overall, I liked the dlc, it was just about right for while people were waiting for The Lake House to come out, and not to mention the tribute to James McCaffrey in the credits afterwards, RIP James McCaffrey. 9/10
The Lake House: An end of a era, pretty much the last DLC on Alan Wake 2 while we wait next for either Control 2 or FBC: Firebreak, but before that, might as well talk about this last bit of Alan Wake 2 that we'll get till then, The Lake House is basically a prequel as it takes place before Saga arrived to Bright Falls and all that, and you play as Agent Estevez, an average FBC agent that you encounter later in the main game and right now, she's trying to investigate what happened to the lake house in the game which (as we'd see eventually) was overrun by some kind of Taken (not that Taken), there is a small teaser for Control 2 within the DLC and honestly, it's pretty good, I actually like the design of the Lake House itself, it's kinda like a small Oldest House except that the building isn't shifting walls 24/7, and not to mention the spookiness is pretty, well, spooky with this one, there isn't really that much to talk about (mostly for spoiler reasons and all that) but overall, it marks an end of a era for Alan Wake 2, and as already said: We wait for Control 2 and FBC: Firebreak next
Overall: It has been a while since I've done a review, however, it's also a first time doing this for DLC (let alone two of them), but I'm happy to take some feedback and comments about what y'all thought about it, and until then, see around with maybe a Altered Post or a review on Drakengard 3 or Warframe.
