Tomorrow at 9:00 A.M, I start orientation as a courtesy aide at the same nursing home I had worked for my clinicals!
About those AirPods… I asked my dad the other day (maybe it was yesterday?) if it’d be possible for me to use my money to order a new pair. He told me I should focus on finding them first. Fat chance of that happening. The universe must have put a black hole somewhere in the house and make it vanish.
Well, he just came home from work and he told me if I really wanted those headphones, we’d get them tomorrow. I’d have to use my own money, of course. Which I suggested from the get-go!
Oof. This is my second time buying AirPods on my own. Not that I’m complaining, though! I secretly bought my first set of AirPod Pros 2 in July online. Those earphones… Were some of, if not the best piece of technology I’ve ever owned. Definitely worth every penny. This time I’ll be damn sure to take care of it. It’s NOT waterproof. Don’t have it fall in the sink and don’t get it drenched with water. I’m also either going to buy a case for it online or get some the next time I go to Five Below.
My last AirPods were used. I looked on Amazon. I spent $185.48 altogether for them. I think I’ll cave in and spend a little extra money to buy a pair of new ones. That’s because I know I’ll take extra good care of them and I won’t repeat the mistakes I did with my last pair. “I’m doing it right this time.” It’ll come with extra pairs of silicone tips of different sizes.
I still hope to find my AirPods, but I’ve just stopped looking at this point. It’s crazy how fast I lost it. I had forgotten one of my ADHD night pills because I foolishly thought I ran out of it. The next morning, I had them in ears as I was brushing my teeth. Then I received a phone call from the nursing home and I disconnected them and placed them SOMEWHERE because the one thing those AirPods aren’t good with are phone calls. When I was finished, I completely forgot where I put the AirPods.
Sometimes the case will make an irritating repeating beeping sound, so I shoved it in a cloth to block out the sound. I know you can remove this feature in the settings, but by doing that you also remove every other sound the case does. My AirPods were connected to my old Apple ID. I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. Last time I was moaning on here about having lost the case, I ended up finding it in my washing machine… Despite me going through each pair of clothes. So I went through my clothes and put them in the laundry. No AirPods there.
In the meantime, I’ve been using my five-year-old AirPods and crappy wired earphones that are honestly probably of better sound quality than my AirPods xD The old ones I’m using, obviously. I was irresponsible with these things, too. I replaced my case at least three times… Luckily, the cases were never as expensive as AirPod Pros one. I didn’t have them for the longest time last year or early this year because I lost the earbuds. Then I received a phone call from my mom saying they were just laying around at her pad this entire time. I bought a new case and started using ‘em again.
They are. So bad haha. I think the right ear is damaged because it’s not as loud as the other one. I had to basically shove the pods down my ears to hear anything during car rides. I bought my AirPods Pro 2 after I thought I lost the OG AirPods. Ended up finding them the same day I ordered them, but I didn’t cancel the order. Best purchase ever. The sound difference compared to my old AirPods and my new AirPods? It’s like you grew up watching black and white TV for the first time and then colored TV came into the picture. Marvelous!
Those AirPods 2 are the only earphones that have silicone tips I’m okay with. I always take the tips off my wired earphones because I can never keep them in my ears. Earwax mania haha
I’m so looking forward to tomorrow! I need to schedule my state exam so I can get certified. I’m not too confident in my abilities yet.
Right now as a courtesy aide, I’ll be having less responsibilities and making $10.20 or $10.50. As a certified nursing aide, I’ll have more responsibilities and my wage will be boosted to $16.50. There are twelve hour shifts - day shift would be from 7 A.M to 7 P.M. while a night shift would be from 7 P.M to 7 A.M.
I did my interview on Monday. They basically just explained to me what the job was about and asked me when I’d take my state exam. The interview took about fifteen minutes and then I was out in the front signing papers. I saw a few of my former classmates from my CHA class waiting. They all definitely got the job and I’ll certainly be seeing them at orientation tomorrow!
I was nervous I wouldn’t get the job, but lo and behold I got the phone call yesterday! I received a few calls later on and then I was asked if I’d be able to pick up shifts from 11 pm to 7 am. I got kind of confused on what they were trying to say ^_^; Transportation wouldn’t be a problem and that was one thing I brought up in the interview. Our house is only three miles away from my soon-to-be workplace. We have four cars. I just don’t have my driver’s license yet and I wasn’t sure my dad would be keen on waking up at 11 p.m to drive me there. I should have kept my mouth shut on this because I had them thinking I wouldn’t be able to drive there on time. I told them transportation wouldn’t be a problem. At first they were going to reschedule my orientation, but they didn’t. Thank the stars!
I received a phone call again at around noon, saying they were looking forward to seeing me tomorrow and I said oh, absolutely! I told them I’d be okay with any shifts, even if it’s from 11 P.M to 7 A.M and they said great!
I’m pretty sure they meant the 11 P.M to 7 A.M shift would happening when I become certified.
I’m so looking forward to it! Not to compare the past but I barely worked at Dairy Queen and it was always during the day for about four hours. So happy that crap is behind me. One of my classmates, the girl who was waiting for the interview, also went to high school with me and worked at Dairy Queen. She hated working there as well.
I love that nursing home. I love the design of it. I loved the residents even though I’m aware elderly people can be snappy and be real mean. I’m prepared for it! I’m coming to their home, not the other way around!
I know I’ll probably jinx myself by saying this, but I wouldn’t be opposed to working night shifts! Graveyard shifts as they’re called. I’ll take any shift I can get.
