10/29/2024-Synecdoche, New York- ★★★★☆
"I'm afraid I'm gonna die, I don't know whats wrong with me and I want to do something important while I'm still here."
Very weird, confusing, and somehow perfect movie, this movie made no sense and perfect sense at the same time. I enjoyed how we got to see them age in real time and he gradually began to unravel and go through so much. This movie definitely has alot to analyze and I feel like I need to watch it many more times to completely understand.
10/30/2024- Mysterious skin- ★★★★★
"Us, on the other hand, they can't kill. But we have to live with the memory of what they do. And really, it's what they do to us that's worse."
I've already watched this film a few times before but I decided to watch it again. I absolutely adore this film, I relate to it in a very personal way. Such a beautiful, heartbreaking, and mind-numbing film. The final monologue breaks me every time I watch it.
10/31/2024- Juliet in paris- ★★★★☆
"The doctor asked me if I was well at the hospital. I had told him that yes, everything was nice. That I was well"
Beautiful film. Loved the deeper meaning behind it. From what I gathered from it, is how women in society often are too scared to ask for help or get treated for their illnesses because of the systems repeated past and discrimination against women.
11/1/2024- Helter Skelter- ★★★★1/2
"We'll be forgotten. We're machines for the processing of desires."
Aesthetically beautiful film. This film is literally a feast for the eyes. Erika Sawajiri was so beautiful in the film and absolutely killed the role. This movie really shows the unrealistic beauty standards for women and how toxic the model industry can be. What could a perfect face and body do if you just rot and suffer inside?
11/2/2024- The substance- ★★★★★
"You can't escape from yourself"
What a picture. This film was very weird and was actually one of the few films to disturb me in a way. I'm absolutely blown away by the vision and creative choices. Basically a great body horror film.
11/3/2024- Dans paris- ★★★☆☆
"I think we grossly underestimate our sorrows, in general. We always die of sadness, actually."
It wasn't exactly what I was expecting and I feel like they could have done some things differently and a little more with it. Still was a very good movie, I did enjoy it.
11/4/2024- Perfect blue- ★★★★★
"Nobody cares for you anymore. You're tarnished and You're filthy."
There's a lot to unpack here. If you think about it her mental health started spiraling all when she discovered the internet. I will probably be thinking of this film for a while, visibly it was absolutely gorgeous. She is literally me.
11/5/2024- Kamikaze girls- ★★★★1/2
"Humans are cowards in the face of happiness. You need courage to hold on to happiness."
Such a cute little lesbian flick. Love it.
11/10/2024- Nana live action- ★★★★★
"Hey Nana, do you remember the first time we met? I believe in things like fate. So I think it was fate.
Hey Hachi, no matter how much or how often people hurt each other, loving someone is never a waste. That love letter you left for me back then, i still cherish it."
Another great lesbian classic. Instant 5 stars when they kissed.
Lost motivation to finish this post but I still review on letterboxd :pp
