My calendar for November is filling up...and the month isn't even here yet!!
Played two shows with Supernova last weekend and both were GREAT! First was at Lentini Farms in Newton, NJ. Beautiful view, nice stage, and I played near a corn maze. HUH?! Well it is a farm! Not a lot of people but those who were there dug the music and chat with us. A friend from high school popped in, which was a nice surprise! And yes we talked about "the old days" but I made sure we talked about THE PRESENT. Still nice to see her after 100 years.
And we looked good for 100!
Second show was the next night, this time at Patrick's Pub in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. Again, nice view of the lake could be seen from where I was standing. Since it was a Halloween party, people showed up in costume. I joked that I wear my costume every day, as a washed-up guitar player. I should have won! Anyway, attendance was good, people floated in and out. After that show, I said my goodbyes as their guitarist Frank is returning after his shoulder surgery.
Wait a minute though...
I was asked to play with them again on Saturday November 9 at Mason Street Grille (another one in Lake Hopatcong). But what about Frank? Well, he told the band that he has to hang back another month and will definitely return in December. So I get the spot!
Now I have a gig on November 10 at The Cutting Room...whew! I will be running on fumes but I'm a professional so this is what I do. I played more gigs this year than the last few years combined. This gig is special because as some of you know, it's a tribute/benefit concert for TM Stevens. I will be one of a handful of guitarists playing a song each and then at the end, will be a big jam. A nice send-off to TM!
And then...are you keeping score?
A gig with Rock Hard at Adam's Beer Garden in Rockaway, NJ. This will be an interesting gig as we will be playing for Morris Hills High School's 40th reunion. And we will be doing nothing but 80s rock, some 70s, nothing else. Works for me.
I need a nap now!
