CHROMAKOPIA pre-review

my review of CHROMAKOPIA so far (posted on albumoftheyear.com, original review)

idk what to think of this, i seriously don't.

just finished listening and i literally have no ability to from an opinion on this album. anyway, here's some things that i'd like to point out as of now:

- the monologue, that plays through most of the trax doesn't really fit in. most of the time i just found it annoying and the only songs i found it fitting in is 'Like Him' and 'I Hope You Find Your Way Home', these were emotional af and quite important to the context of the songs. i assume it is Tyler's momma talking, which explains why he included her here.

- the first half, apart from 'St. Chroma' and 'Noid', didn't click with me quite well. but i see 'Take Your Mask Off' as a pivotal moment, where the album gets more personal and Tyler truly expresses himself in almost intimate detail. especially 'Like Him', which i almost cried to.

- and an interesting theory. CHROMAKOPIA (from what i heard) roughly translates to "color abundance", which points out the main theme in this album. the previous records were very colorful and vibrant, but CHROMAKOPIA is like the black sheep amongst them. it is chaotic, messy, and deeply personal. like it took it's mask off, and showed the world the real Tyler. there were a lot of ppl theorizing about a deeply personal and intimate record, with the SORRY NOT SORRY video showcasing Tyler beating up his past alteregos and the supposed OKONMA album title tease on his suitcase.

and well, this is just that, although probably different than ppl might've expected. these are the things i happened to catch on my first listen. i'm definitely gonna listen more and analyze more. until then, i'm not gonna add a score, for the sake of dignity and a formative opinion, that is about to come.

GO FUCKIN LISTEN TO IIIIIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!
