Obsessions and stress!! ( Advice appreciated )

Hello everyone I'm back with a new obsession. Bird watching!! Ive sadly lost my art obsession and haven't drawn in a bit. I miss the creativity and fun I had drawing. But now all the hours are being replaced with bird watching, photographing birds and learning about them. This is new and it's super fun! I've bought a bird feeder too and joined some bird watching groups. 


Also yes I'm stressed! I'm starting to notice a pattern here. I cringe saying this but these obsessions are a coping mechanism I think. As soon as the stress from college, work or driving is gone or has lessened.. they disappear!! They vanish! Poof! 

I call them obsessions because when I get them I will spend HOURS wasting my time on them instead of doing anything else. Like I will spend the full day doing this thing and if I'm not im thinking about it.

These are hobbies but I'm calling them obsessions because of the stress circumstances and the intensity of them 😬 

I honestly wish I could have a balance between them. They are fun in the moment but need a balance. I want them to last longer than, for example until the deadline of my essays.. But if they are to last then I don't want them consuming all of the time I could use to be doing something else

Please tell me anyone else gets this too??!!? I feel alone in this. Any tips to manage these obsessions is very appreciated. Or any resources.
