I have watched the whole first season of Hazbin Hotel. I'm not entirely sure if I like it.
Like, I understand why people like it; I used to be an enjoyer of the fandom when the pilot was the only thing we had (and somehow merch was still getting made). But the show just has these things that get on my nerves and I can't really bring myself to fully enjoy what's being given to me. On top of that, the whole thing is in the midst of a culture war, not helped by the fact the creator of the show can't keep herself out of controversy. I hate both sides of the discussion and I wish it was easier.
There's a post on Twitter (https://x.com/SabolSawyer/status/1848813683075358964) where someone was criticizing a video, specifically when talking about Loser, Baby, stating that they had wildly misinterpreted the song. Others have then accused OP of ignoring the YouTuber's discussion as a surviver of sexual assault, and in general accusing the fandom in general of ignoring SA victims when they criticize how Angel Dust is represented in the show. The problem is that both sides are a little right?
Obviously there's a discussion to be had about the fandom and how it deals with sexual assault, but also I think the song is a little overhated in this discussion. It is meant to be a way that shows that Husk sympathizes with Angel's situation and that he's here for him; for it being a pretty general message dressed up in the show's musical style, its an okay song. But the song on its own just kinda sucks!
For example, there's a quote from Rob Marshall that goes along the lines of "When movement isn't enough, you dance, or when speaking isn't enough, you sing." Hazbin Hotel as a whole, but Loser, Baby in particular, struggles to understand this. The scene leading up to Loser, Baby is after Angel unloads about his sexual assault to Husk and Husk ends up telling his own sad backstory to relate to him. And then it randomly jumps into this cheesy 60s big band number? Why? What was in the scene that needed, that begged, for this number to exist? Why did Husk have to dance? Why was there no buildup music-wise leading up to this song? These kinds of questions plague my mind almost every time a song pops up in this show, and it annoys me to no end.
Quite frankly, I don't even like it being a musical; I thought the thing in the pilot was a bit. The show itself has some promise, but it has almost definitely fell off since the pilot.

I totally see where you're coming from. I'm not sure if you're looking for any reply, but here's mine! I'm biased (musicals and the Helluverse are some of my favorite things), but you make a good point. Loser, Baby as a song is one of my favorites in the show, but yeah- there wasn't enough build-up. A song placed there was, in my opinion, a good choice- musicals tend to put songs before, after, or during emotional moments- and that definitely was one. Absolutely needed more than just Husk randomly singing.
[Also just wanted to say thank you for doing more than just "boo Hazbin Hotel stinky yucky show gross fans ewww" like a lot of others]

I'm always happy with a reply!
I should say, I do enjoy Loser, Baby enough as a song to not outwardly hate it; I'm a sucker for a bit of cheese. The only thing that really doesn't make me happy is how it pops up in the actual show, which if you couldn't tell by this point, it bothers me.
Also I can ensure you that I'm too autistic to ever just have a one-note line for why I don't like a show, there's too many things in the world to talk about.
