Has anyone else walked into a store within these past few years (since 2022ish), saw that they were selling jeans that were branded as "low rise", only for you to hold them up to you or try them on and realize that they're actually a mid rise and aren't an actual low rise? Because this has happened to me on quite a few occasions within these last few years and I am fucking sick and tired of this blatant false advertising and deceit.
I'm sorry, modern day clothing companies, but as someone who owns quite a few pairs of actual low rise jeans from eBay (defined as having a rise 7.5 inches or less), you're not fooling me and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has caught onto this either. The last time I've seen actual low rise jeans being sold in physical stores was back around August 2021 (although even then, there weren't many stores selling them, unfortunately). An 8 - 9.5 inch rise is NOT a low rise, that is what a mid rise is. A mid rise sits right below the navel and squeezes on the stomach (and can still irritate a navel piercing while sitting down the way stupid high rise pants can if you have one like me), whereas a true low rise sits noticeably below it with the waistband comfortably on the hip bones and leaves the stomach free to naturally expand during inhalation and other daily movements.
I don't know who these clothing companies even think they're fooling (though if I had to guess, it would probably be naive teens who don't know any better and lack the amount of knowledge about the 2000s that I have in regards to the fashion of the decade), though if there's one thing I'm certain of, it's the fact that I'm not the one being fooled here.
And although I'd especially love for ultra low rise jeans (rise less than 6.5 inches) to come back, I'll settle for just regular low rise jeans to make a comeback as long as actual low rise jeans start being produced and sold again. Just stop calling mid rise jeans "low rise" and start making and selling some actual low rise jeans again, you fucking cowards. If low rise jeans are supposed to be making a comeback, don't you think that there would be at least some demand for actual low rise jeans that can show off as much as you want them to as opposed to the smothering mid rise jeans that get relabeled as something they're truly not through false advertising? I can spot and distinguish a pair of actual low rise jeans from falsely advertised mid rise jeans from a mile away.
I would consider making my own if I were more skilled at sewing and had a machine to do it (as opposed to doing all of the stitching by hand) and knew how to cut a premade jeans pattern and remove a good chunk of the rise from the pattern before translating it onto the fabric (I unfortunately have yet to see a low/ultra low rise premade pants pattern). Either that, or if modifying a pair of already existing jeans pattern weren't so difficult between having to remove and restitch the button and pockets and having to make a waistband that will wrap around my pelvis, as that part of my body is noticeably wider than my waist (and trust me when I say how much easier it is to lower the rise of a preexisting pair of pajama pants or even leggings for that matter than a pair of jeans).
And while we're at it, can people quit pretending that only tall people with a straight up and down figure can pull these off? I for one, am short (5 feet exactly) and have a pretty defined lower hourglass/pear shaped body and I must say that if anything, us girls with wider hips are the ones who pull these off the best (though people of all body types should feel free and welcome to wear them if they want to without any judgement or shame), and I don't care if anyone says that people built like me "shouldn't" be wearing them. I'll wear whatever I fucking want to wear in this tragically short life. I feel like this partially contributes to the hivemind mentality of the low rise jeans hate group I see on every other website (particularly on sites like Reddit and YouTube) except SpaceHey and we don't need to be adding any more fuel to their already burning fire.

i want low-rise so bad but as you said, the closest thing ive got to that nowadays is mid-rise :/ the last time i got to wear low-rise, they didnt even fit me well and i was bullied into believing i was chubby and developing an ed at 8 years old (i was bloated, never chubby unless i was right abt to hit a growth spurt lol). now that ive actually gotten taller, and chub or not be damned, am actually more slim-built, theyre all gone!
