3. Breathe

Out of the waters of life, I gasp for the air of isolation. In between, within harmony, I never may be, not me. A life of comfort was never meant to be, but for each person in the depths, there is someone on the surface with me.

I’d give a standing ovation if it were possible through a screen. What a beautiful piece this one is. The connection between “water” and “depths.” I’m not sure if that was intentional, but if it was, your brain is incredible. I like how the “in between” could also be compared to purgatory, since that’s between life and death.

Thank you! I could break down the meaning for you, if you want, but that might mess with what you like it for.

By all means. I’d love your explanation.

The first few sentences are about how I need to dip in and out of life, needing time to myself, since I find social life so exhausting; similarly, if you are to dive, you will have to come up for air eventually. The other half is how some people can rest at the depths of the water; they can be around other people for hours with ease. They can breathe underwater, which is how it seems from my point of view; some super-human ability. Lastly, the people on the surface are the people like me, who come up for the oxygen of isolation. While we may not speak, our mutual need for time above the water is comforting, so I can be isolated, but feel alone.
