I heard about whispy, which is being made by dimden (the person who made the oldTwitter UI plugin). The website is still pre-launch but I think it will be the most similar since the person working on it is the most serious about it and it doesn't seem gimmicky and soulless from how development has been going. I've been waiting for launch myself.
