name: koi the coolest, aka the goat, aka the genius, aka mr. shawty ima party till the sun down, aka— ok, ima stop... also i had to rewrite everything cuz i accidentally refreshed the tab (come on spacehey, step up a bit will ya? jk.)

also shoutout to eugene for this idea btw!! now i finally have an excuse to talk about exo.

NOW LET'S GOOOOO!!!

first song i liked:

for my awakening.. it was el dorado. when i found the color coded vid on my 3ds i thought to myself that they are not messing around. it's the type of song that could easily overshadow the other songs in the exodus album, BUT, heavy on the "but"! every, single, gawd dang exo song has a different vibe so i can't say that. but yeah that song got me in deep. even now i find myself putting that song on repeat.

bias(es):

ult (exo-k): baekhyun cuz he's a funny guy and in exo showtime (their reality show) he never failed to make me have a hearty chuckle. also... the man can sing... but yeah, i like funny people :D he was locked in the ult spot the moment he went into the haunted house and that weird interview session he had w the members.

bias (exo-m): luhan, aka mr. i got the good good, aka the deer on the moon, mr. ooooh~ oooh~ he was funny during the running man episodes and he has such a memeable face haha. also he was the main lead in that one black pearl webseries they had.. i remember it being the most spectacular...genius pieces of work I've ever been exposed to.. but looking back at it now, i can't help but cringe. i mean, it was good during its time.

first bias: kai the dance ma-ma-ma-ma-machine (ifykyk, omg new theory in mama they call out for their majesty and in the song machine they sing mama a bit and i assume they're being controlled by the red forces– ykw ima be quiet). anyway, he was my first bias because...uh.. i think it's because he got the most screentime (no hate) but for context growl was my first introduction to exo and have u seen the dance practice ver.??? yeah yeah~ he was the main visual so u can't blame me for that! also i think he was the second lead in the webseries if i remember correctly.. idk. i could be wrong.. can't be bothered to look that up lolol

fave era: 

surprisingly... i would say "the war" era, cuz idk abt u.. summer was summering for sure thanks to that comeback. soo dyed his hair which was a revolutionary moment for exols, the dude never dyes his hair!. everyone had some uniqueness going on and i loved how crazy it was. chanyeol had candyfloss hair, baekhyun w his black and red mullet, sehun looking like a tangerine, chen rocking the blonde look, suho with the brown curls. xiumins jet black hair, and kai with the— (ahem, *flashbacks of wolf era*). as for the teasers.. they are so nostalgic to look back to. just like the tempo era they played snippets of the songs so it was nice to hear the full ver. when it came out :O

fave song(s):

uhhh... how the heck do i choose this?!?? i mean, my fave album is definitely exodus (and countdown... the war as well). omg, how do you even pick just a few song when choosing an album is hard?! but if i had to choose a few songs (might regret this later), i’d say “3.6.5” because it makes me happy and “moonlight” for that nostalgic vibe. i have a song for every occasion! notable mention: “stronger” because that song literally helped me pass my swimming test. i had it playing in my head to push through, lmao! (i still suck at swimming).

fave winter song:

“fall” from the universe album. ngl, i like all the songs, but this one has a feeling i can’t quite grasp. i remember listening to it for the first time and thinking, “damn, they should have a royal concept next because this is too elegant for a winter album.” i remember when people faked that their concept would be royal during the kokobop era and someone made a fake teaser with a cool logo. i don’t know if it got deleted, but it feels like we got robbed because that concept would’ve been my fave!

i also like “girl x friend” and “unfair” from the sing for you winter special in 2015. “girl x friend” has such a sweet vibe, while “unfair” is more upbeat and fun! ACTUALLY HECK! unfair is my fave. if you haven’t watched the performances, u are missing out!

fave mv:

well, luckily cbx isn’t included... unless? just kidding. my fave is “electric kiss” and “coming over.” i don’t care if they’re short; the concepts are chef’s kiss! and also… damn it, koi, choose only one! for coming over i like how baekhyun looked for that cb, the red hair with the black and red striped shirt, the glasses w the neck tattoos... whoever was behind this doing... thank you... i mean it. as for electric kiss, the cinematography is chefs kiss! it felt like a movie. xiumin had a nice outfit (everyone did, but he stood out to me for some reason). the rap part probably could've given me an elliptical seizure, but i still rewatched it gawd knows how many times. it's that good. i wish they made a full ver for both mvs... kinda spoilt of me to say this but it would've been nice...T.T

honorable mentions:

LOVE SHOT ♥︎: i wanted to slip in tempo that had a similar vibe.. but since their all kinda connected (imo) ima just put love shot. the cinematography is pleasing to look at.. and the theories... THE THEORIES that leads up to...

OBSESSION (GRAHH ‼️): x-exo left me in awe. I LIKE THIS CONCEPT. THEY LEFT NO CRUMPS, ALL THE PLATES WERE LICKED CLEAN, THE WHOLE BUFFET IS EMPTY, THEY COOKED AND SERVED WELL!!! (ngl exo never had a song/album/mv/concept where they are cooking when they're a lot of food.. the moment something is served by them the food is gone— STOP IT!! I KNOW I HAVE TO STOP BLABBERING). idek what im saying anymore. i blame uni and the upcoming exams that i have yet to study for.

tmi: now, onto why exo is the best k-pop group (not trying to start fan wars, though). i remember being introduced to “growl” as a kid and finding out that the mv was shot in one take—so cool! the same day, i watched the “overdose” mv, then “wolf,” “mama,” “history,” and “what is love.” something about exo did something to my 10-year-old brain chemistry, haha. i found it fun that all the members had their own assigned superpowers and unique charms. i tried to remember the members like this:

• kai: the good-looking guy with braids and and the one guy who shouted w tats in the mama mv, dance machine
• baekhyun: guy with the weird name #1, heavy... yet cool eyeliner
• chanyeol: guy with the weird name #2, puppy eyes and raps
• sehun: the guy with weird hair colors who rarely shows up
• luhan: the chinese member who looks like a deer who sang "listen, enjoy the mayo!" (aka my exo-m bias)
• d.o.: small with big eyes and crazy vocal skills like baekhyun
• tao: the guy with panda eyes and kung fu skills
• suho: the man with water who is the leader of exo-k (hard time remembering how he looked, sorry junmyeon..)
• lay: mr. healing unicorn! :D
• chen: (dino boi) thought he chinese because he was in exo-m, lol.
• xiumin: same thing with baozi, also shouted in the mama mv w tats like the dance machine, frost boy.

i started getting into them a bit but not too crazily, because later my girly self fell into the girls’ generation rabbit hole. but then exo dropped bop after bop, and i became an exotic... i mean, exo-l. officially an exo-love (no one calls it that but i'm dropping the real term cuz i feel like it. also if u didn't know the letter "l" is between "k" and "m", and what is– okay stop.. i have to stop myself). during 2015, thanks to the call me baby era. the exodus era was heaven-sent! i literally had “el dorado,” “transformer,” and “hurt” stuck on repeat on my 3DS. i admit i liked the show exo next door during that time (guilty!), but that doesn’t downplay my immaculate taste in music. huehue.

i spent hours rewatching exo showtime and quoting “kkaebsong” and “yehet ohorat” on the daily (to myself ofc cuz once i had a yehet ohorat wallpaper (yk the tumblr pastel edits?) and dude was like wtf does that mean? honestly, i would've reacted the same way.. cuz what does it mean...? it means nothing, sehun just said it when he was happy lmao.

i watched the pathcode teasers for “call me baby” and found out about their concept and what they were really about. honestly, i was so invested! back then, the theories were wild. people were connecting dots and speculating about the storyline like it was the next big movie franchise. i remember deep diving into fan theories like it was an exam! i even made a document to post everything on my now-deleted twitter account. i wish i could recover it and start again to finish it before the group disbands, especially with sm's decline in promoting and investing in them. 

if exo disbands before they could restore the tree of life.. ima contact the man himself, the creator of the superstar museum, sooman, and make sure it happens. if not then ima write a book about it and find my own ending cuz bro... sm is a shietshow now w all the lawsuit thing and not paying cbx (and baekhyun w the shady deals, IM ROOTING FOR U BACON!! he better not give up). anyway, if things go downhill ima collect every theorist in the exo-l community and cook something up together~ (too optimistic, heck.. i don't want it to be swept under the rug! it's too good of a concept).

i had so many plans and ideas, like creating a fan site or even a zine to celebrate their music and concepts. it would be cool to gather art and stories from other fans and make something special together! but for now, i just hope exo keeps dropping bops and that we get to enjoy them for a long time.
