Hey guys! In one year (october 2025) windows 10 will no longer be in support. One thing I have been getting from friends is how their PC cannot support windows 11.
It is UNSAFE to stay on a unsupported operating system!! And extremely unsafe to be connected to the internet on one.
You probably CAN run windows 11, you just need to enable your TPM 2.0
If this does not work, HP sells relatively cheap laptops with windows 11 onboard (I bought one for about $110 USD, it's purely utilitarian not for gaming, and i have since switched it to Ubuntu). If you have funds I would reccomend switching to mac atp... (Yikes windows so bad I reccomend mac?!)
If neither option works, consider Linux distros
Ubuntu is extremely user friendly and my personal favorite but there are many distros to try :)
Pls comment if you have questions or need help :)

Sorry, but I think I'd rather not have to deal with Windows 11 at all even though my Windows 10 laptop does say it supports W11.
As long as you install an antivirus onto your computer, it will be fine even when the operating system stops being officially supported by its manufacturer.
Hell, there are still some people out there running Windows XP to this very day.

Why exactly is it unsafe to be on the internet on an outdated OS? Is it okay if you only go to websites you know? sry I'm not the smartest 3

in outdated OS systems, its VERY easy for any sort of malware/virus/data miner to infect your system in a way that's near impossible to remove. (typically you have to wipe the whole disk)
as systems are not updated it gives people more time to find vulnerabilities, as they won't be patched.
I would not go on the internet at all with an older OS without proper protections, it does not matter what site, and if you're asking this question you probably do not have the tools to browse the web securely on an older system.

Oh, okay. I don't think my parents will let me do anything to my pc to download windows 11, or buy an antivirus :(

checking your TMP isnt doing anything to your PC, it comes built in and is a completely normal thing to look at your bios, you could do it in 5 min tops. I wouldn't trust an antivirus to protect me on any system tbh :/
Just take a peak at your TPM see if its on and 2.0 or higher. If not, there are affordable HP laptops with windows 11 you can find online or at local stores.

It's quite safe to use an out of date operating system when not connecting to the internet. It's actually pretty safe to do that even when connecting so long as you NEVER click links, because even trusted sources can be breached.
And even then it's mostly just tangentual threats, most rishs is petty data theft, if you don't use the machine for anything personal it should be fine. And I mean sure I'm the one talking but there's a reason people don't feel the need to fear using old thinkpads wih linux builds made up of whatever random packages they need in whatever random versions they want. Sure, a lot of it may still TECHNICALLY be supported but the number of people doing so does not compare to Microsoft.

Pretty sure 90% of people connect to the internet on their PC
This post was more for general folks who got that "you pc cant run windows 11" and aren't tech savvy enough to know what to do.
If you have the technical know how to be safe on whatever system this post isnt for you :p

with all due respect
you expect not-savy people to enable their TPM?
In the fucking BIOS?
Not happening. People are scared to mess with system settings let alone bare metal.

Hence why im introducing it with a great video i found? It helped out my friends who aren't tech savvy
You're just talking about stuff on a whole extra level of difficult for the average consumer
The average consumer might use adblock to stay safe online but thats it. They won't be willing to run an old OS system and manage saftey themselves :p

I mean sure, and yea the video might be great for those willing to try, but I know many people who wouldn't. On the other hand I know a lot of people who don't even need to google things they just visit facebook and youtube and maybe their email and bank. I'm ctually more afraid of them ALSO not being willing to install adblocks (and yes, I've seen many such cases) to protect them from just abput only threats that those sites provide.
I mean I agree with you, blindly ignoring those things is not a way to go, but it always feels disingenuous to say that machines in general are insanely more safe than a lot of people hearing things like these might imagine, the same way VPN ads are disingenuous saying vpns provide secure, encrypted connection 95% of all the goddamn internet trafic goes throigh the same secure encryption by defaut via HTTPS, even if the scale of the two examples isn't perfectly comparable.
