Comparing original social media to recent

It's really interesting logging on here after scrolling around on Bluesky and Tumblr, even Threads (bleh, I honestly hate Threads). I don't know what to do here, mostly because there are no photo albums and I really, really hope we get those eventually, even if they have to be early 2000s quality XD But yeah, social media used to be a lot more chill, despite the occasional annoying troll. I remember stuff like Buddy Poke, profile playlists, and those survey things which I love so fucking much.

And I missed just journaling. This could be a really great place for writers again. Even artists if we could get photo albums. And music... ugh I miss Myspace music. I found so many cool people on it who are now lost to the internet. I actually found an alternative Goth model I used to follow on Myspace in the early 2000s on Insta a few years ago, and I was so glad. She was always so cool ^_^ (Yes, I'm back to using those emojis because I'm jaded by late-stage capitalism social media and I'm ready to go back. I want off this crazy ride)

Maybe there's something to this place just being quiet. There's no reason to fish for more followers. It's just... existing and chilling online, like people used to do (gods I sound old).

I do miss Vampire Freaks, just not the douchebag that ran it or what it became. And again, despite the trolls on it, it was still pretty chill. Social media just... became something that moves so fast and it's now so angry and lost in ads and people screaming at each other. It used to be wonderfully cringe photos and genuine socializing over common interests.

I'm sad T_T
