Kind of dating?

It is so hard when you're not even sure if you're together together, he says we are but he won't tell anyone nor does he ever say he loves me, I feel like it's just his way of getting in my pants but I really like him, I'm not sure what to feel. He comes across like hes not sure how to express his feelings but I don't want to think something that might not be true. I feel better off just curling up in a ball and hiding from everyone. His best friend even asked if he used me as a sex toy yet which caught me so off guard, it really didn't sound like he was joking either. What do I do guys?:(((((
