Angela's story in Silent Hill 2 will always be so important to me, especially with how close it hits to home for me. The fact that she's ONLY 19 and she's already suffering to the point of constant suicidal ideations really makes me feel seen but also so sad. :( The search for her mom who victim blames her while she's also stuck seeing the monster manifestation of her abusive father really drives the point home that she hasn't accepted it's not her fault. She even says this outright to James who tries to reassure her she didn't deserve any of what she went through, but at that point Angela is already too far gone. The way they explore this subject always made me feel so seen, I feel like often times horror media explores the topic of SA (and especially CSA) in a way that's weird or gross. But silent hill 2 never made me feel disrespected when we'd speak to Angela. ^_^
(Side note: Although im not the biggest fan of James, i do respect the small detail of him never touching Angela as he consoles her after her first panic where she screams not to touch her.)
They could never make me hate you Angela Silent Hill 2.....
