hey guys :) I have a huge stressful midterm exam coming up in about a week... :( I'm feeling so overwhelmed with homework already and having trouble finding the time to study. does anyone have any tips about what you've found to be the most effective study methods? what helps you to focus? how do you keep yourself from procrastinating lol?
Study tips?!

i usually try to read thru all of my lecture notes because they make up what's going to be on the exam, because the professor went over it, so that's gunna be the basis on concepts and such, then reviewing homeworks and re-doing them if necessary because they're the application of those concepts you gotta know. lastly, if u have enough time, more practices!
if possible, i try to stop doing any work at 10pm and go to bed by 12am, so i have time to do night stuff and chill out (but adjust as necessary).
my mind is usually at peace by the time the exam comes up because i'm convinced i did the best i can to study (i.e., reviewing everything/as much as i can)

regarding study methods and focusing, i kind of just do my best to do as much as i can until i get super sleepy and just can't. i'm able to pace myself decently well usually by dividing up how much i review per day (e.g., review 3 lectures/day until finished, then review homeworks until day of exam), which i can spread throughout the day in case i can't do it in one sitting.
i have horrible focus. i really like listening to music and i tell myself it helps me focus, but it really distracts me and i actively study for like 5-8 minutes at a time, then get distracted for like the next 15 minutes listening to songs -- it's an endless cycle. subsequently, for me, it really helps to actually reduce other types of inputs besides studying (e.g, music, visual distractions) -- lock in, as they say.

uhmmm procrastinating... i never really procrastinate because i pace well? i try to give myself ample amounts of time to review sufficiently. if i can't keep up, at minimum, i have to review all of my lecture notes, because once again, that's like the basis of the exams (i'd give up those exam practices from previous years, homeworks, etc.)
it might just be that you should solidify what you should do each day, so the concept of "oh i should study for this exam" isn't so abstract, rather it'll be like, "i need to read lectures 4, 5, 6 today," which is much less daunting than "studying for the exam" (implies the entirety?)

if you're really pressed for time, you really do have to weigh your options. sometimes, i gave up on homeworks i couldn't finish on time (and turned them in as is) just to study and pass an exam since they usually weigh more on the grading scale.
my mind is usually sound even when this occurs, because i feel justified in that decision: i'm doing my best and i'm not ashamed that i can't be exceptional and outstanding all the time. like... it's okay if you have to turn in imperfect homeworks so you can do better in another thing, y'know? sacrifices might be necessary, but i do my best not to get too worked up over it, because i really am doing my best!!!
lastly, communicate with ur professors if it gets really bad (or whenever u want to heh) !! it's important to talk to them because they could make accommodations for you -- nothing is like SET IN STONE, they're people, too! for example, u might be able to get an extension on homework due dates or a reduced penalty for turning it in late

you're actually the coolest and smartest woah. I feel the sleep thing that's my main strategy lol. If I don't know it by like 11 pm... oh well I'm going to sleep. I become such an anxious wreck without sleep lol.
I think the exam I was referring to in the post went... just okay. I have another one on Monday :( midterm season horrible

Jazz instrumentals help me stay focused. I don't use it for studying but I use it for writing and it helps me a lot.
Sort of a study tip? MAKE SURE TO GET REST. Don't cram. Cramming is awful. Whenever I try to cram I never get good grades. Everytime I always just forget everything I took in. Get a good 9 hours sleep bro it'll save you
