Dead internet theory
So to sum up the dead internet theory, (or atleast what I understand of it.) is basically “dead” interaction. Everyone being “bots” and what not.
Lately, I’ve noticed a huge amount of bots on Twitter/X, Instagram, tumblr etc.
What I’ve noticed that instead of advertising or baiting interaction, they are stealing other people’s comments/replies on things. Earlier on twitter I was reading a post about kinning/femcel “characters” and it wasn’t the post itself that caught my eye, it was the replies. The replies on the post were normal at first, and then I scrolled down. A lot, like a lot of the replies were comments that I had already seen. Bots repeating what people have said, word for word. I didn’t read much into it until I started seeing it everywhere. Another thing I’ve noticed is Actual **bots** repeating slang. Of course this could be normal and just trying to pass things off, but it gets stranger the deeper you read into these bot accounts. The repeated slang, the copy and paste replies, etc. you used to be able to tell which was a bot and what was a human posting, but on Twitter/X it’s getting harder and weirder. Ai images of humans, normal bios(?) seemingly normal opinions, and then if you were to reply to one of these, something is immediately off. Again, the repeated short sentence slang, repeated copy and pasting of comments, just strange. This is something I’ve been seeing a lot lately and it may not be a big deal, but still strange to me.
