new books and stuff

I ordered some books about Norse and Greek mythology along with one about the religion itself and I got 3 of them today!!! All are preowned, which doesn't really bother me tbh. They are The Viking Spirit by Daniel McCoy, The Poetic Edda- translated by Jackson Crawford and Gods and Heroes by Gustav Schwab! One of the books I ordered was new on the other hand so I think it's in a different package. Anyway I literally can't wait to read them and absorb everything.

I like history and mythology in general and I thought about going into a history type of career but at the end of the day I don't want to write a five page essay about something. (Mainly American colonel history type stuff ITS SOOO BORING AND UGH) I'm picky lol. But also writing isn't really my thing, yknow.

Also I have a feeling this history and myth interest is my main drive to get into the Norse religion? Like yes, I believe in the old gods but like I'm still unsure about it? I don't know how to describe it but there's this drive. But I also don't want to jump into something like this and just bail out on it cause I'm too scared to commit. Still in my research phase so don't hate me lol. But I will admit I have been feeling kind of better ever since I dove into this research so that makes me more curious if I actually practiced this religion. 

I've never really been religious to begin with. My family does believe in God and all that but we never went to church or any of that so there's not a connection. I also don't think about it, I think about what happens after we die but that's it and even then it's kind of in the middle for me. Sticking with "atheism" is easy but something about this Norse practice/polytheism does something for me idk. 

I'll continue to read until I'm finished with all my books and see where I go from there. I've read Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman which is a good introduction to the mythology along with podcasts that actually dive deeper into the meaning of the poetic edda and myths (getting multiple translations together and dissecting them type stuff).

I'll update with another blog post if I get anywhere lol
