the other day we were discussing genres in class and 'musical' came up as an example and i just havent stopped thinking about it. we werent allowed to classify 'animation' as a genre, because its a MEDIUM. and like, yeah. but wouldnt musicals be the same??? like its a differnt form of storytelling. but the fact that something is a Musical doesnt really tell me anything about the ACTUAL genre.
am i stupid???
cuz like we were talking about the iconography of different genres & whatnot. the only iconography for 'musicals' was that they have a musical score, and sing in order to tell the story .or whatever. whilst the other genres had an actual list of things youd expect to see within it, and it could get as specific as Colors assosciated with it. but musicals are so broad (...way. Hhahaha) . you could literally have a musical of any genre. a mUSICAL ISNT A GENRE I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS
i tried asking about this and i just got brushed off saying im wrong but like??????
?????
im never calling musicals a genre Sorry . its literally just a different way of storytelling.
