Top Ten - Chapter 1 Progress

  CHAPTER # 1

Dog Tags

The night brought a gentle breeze followed by fog and the smell of freshwater was nulled by the smell of tree rot. Two men walk up to a small shack at the end of a dock. The tall pale man that led the two walked in first. Korri knelt next to a large rugged table, leaning his chest against it. He rested his head against its cool top, his blonde and purple-highlighted hair spreading over it.  He sighed softly looking up at his partner, a shorter dark-skinned man with black and blue braids, Topper.

“Right, so I just pepper and pray that I hit something and I hear something like you just stepped on a dog’s tail.” Korri tapped the table with his nails, his southern accent especially thick.

“You shot the guy’s dog?” Topper glanced at Korri moving his hair over his left shoulder, playing with the ends. He sat down next to where Korri was kneeling.

“God, I wish that thing was a dog! The thing had no head and was the size of a damn bobcat. Still kicking as well.”

“No head? You did a number on whatever that was.”

“No dude, I swear it was like that before I shot it. It wasn't bleeding.”

“Have you been taking-”

“No man. I know what I saw.”  The taller man sighed standing up so he could sit in one of the seats. He yawned quietly reaching into his pocket, pulling out his phone. “I took a picture of the freak. I knew you wouldn't believe me.”

Topper scooted closer to Korri grabbing the bottom of his phone.
