there are a bunch of guides you could watch on youtube, but the adventurer handbook in your paimon menu does a pretty good job guiding you. everything is more or less locked behind your adventure rank. this includes ascending characters and quest lines.
the main quest line (archon quest) will also show up in your handbook, rewarding you with a fate each on completion. those quests will unlock others down the line.
do spend:
Resin. Ressource that refills by itself and can be used to claim loot from laylines, bosses or domains. it would be efficient to spend those every day on leylines or any material your characters need at the moment. artifact domains are not that efficient until Adventure Rank 45 though.
Blue Fates. those are rewarded for ascending characters and quests and progressing with the free battle pass. they can only be spent on the standard banner so no need to save them. its not advised to buy additional blue fates for primo gems since they could also be exchanged for limited pulls. one exception would be the 5 discounted blue/purple fates in the paimon shop each month. you can get them if you can afford both.
Experience books. your characters wont level themselves by a lot. so do use the experience to keep them at their highest possible level and ascend them when aviable. you could look up guides to see what characters are best but in genersl its not a huge waste of ressources to just level them until lvl 40/50 or so if that helps you to determine if you like the gameplay and want to invest in them further. its not that much xp compared to later levels but doing that with every single character will drain your ressources. the Weapons you use should also be leveled when possible. they are even safer, since they can be used on different characters.
dont spend:
primo gems on the standdard banner or weapon banner (except if youre a high spender). the characters aviable on the limited banners changed every few weeks and are the best use of your primos. you can do their trials to get an idea if you like their gameplay.
weapon billets. those are used to craft 4* weapons and are rare weekly boss drops. so it would be best to save them unless you know what you are doing.
weapon dublicates. they can be used to refine a weapon of the same exact type. some weapons like the favonious series are more useful than others or even best in slot gor a lot of characters. best to look thise up before refining.
3+ star weapons. can be used as experience material. some of them are not that bad though. some 3* weapons cant be obtained by wishing and only drop from rarer chests. you will het an idea of the wish-3* after are shirt while so you will know wich ones are safe to use for experience points. notable 3* like black iron word or white tassel can be locked so they are not destroyed by accident.
Keys for Story Quests and Hangouts. you will get those by doing daily quests and there is a limited for the amount you can save up. you can spend them unlock character specific quests but i wouldnt recommend unlocking more quests if you can catch up completing them. the way genshin works a characters cant ever be in more than one place at a time and starting multiple quests involving the same characters can halt the progress on the other quests and can get annoying.
Star Glitter and Star Dust. can be spend in the paimon shop and are rarely worth spending on anything but limited wishes. exceptions would be important character-constellations if you need something specific. the weapons in the shop are all bad tough.
fragile Resin. mainly obtained through the battle pass. using those is most efficient after unlocking the highest difiiculty (with the best possible rewards) at adventure rank 45.
Material for increasing a characters level, talent level, artufact level or weapon level after a certain point, if you plan to build more characters. the ressources needed to maximise a characters potential will skyrocket with the later levels. unless you plan to invests vertically in but a few characters, its often more efficient to work on other characters first instead of sqieezing a few more damage% out of the ones already built.
lastly, things to do would include picking up absolutely everything when possible. chances are it will get useful at some point.
doing your daily quests is the main source if primo gems and therefore wishes and limited characters. after completing 4 daily quests another 10 gems can be collected from katherine at the adventurers guild.
also dont stress about the spiral abyss and just play at your pace.
Edit: fixed some typos. Also you may have noticed im just mentioning efficiency a lot. most of these things are not worth stressing about and will not ruin your account or anything. it might just take you a little time longer to get somewhere. lots of tipps fo optimise your ressource efficiency but not a lot of things you can actually do wrong here.
