I moved to a whole another country in a whole entirely new city and.. Wait, how do you make friends with people whom you've never met before?
Okay okay, let me roll it back a little lol. I've always been either working or in school, which is where I met all of my friends. But.. How do you deal with that when you don't have work yet and you're no longer in school..?
I'm a hardcore library-stan. God I love that thing. Whoever decided to invent libraries deserves all the awards in the world cause gosh darnit is it wonderful. Anyways, I went to the library to pick up some movies I had put on hold, couldn't find them on the shelf, so I had to ask someone who worked there to help me. It was honestly really neat! Even if it was just a costumer-worker interaction, it made me really happy hehe.
After I picked up the movies, I went to sit down to read in my book. I saw down on a coach and there was a stranger sitting nearby that said hi and commented that they liked my bag. I thanked them and asked what they were reading aaaaand --- lots of chatting later, we ended up talking about a book sale coming up. I went to ask a librarian when exactly that book sale was and noticed they had a Hatsune Miku badge on their lanyard, so I was like "Also I love your badge by the way, I'm a big fan of Miku as well!" and that turned into a little convo.
All of these little interactions are so fulfilling to me. It's not easy being somewhere new, especially when you suddenly have to deal with difficulties that you've never had to work with before.
Finding friends is tough, especially as an adult where you aren't really forced into a group of people around the same age as you. We gotta keep trying though!
My dream is to one day overcome my anxiety and be able to just strike up conversations with strangers. I've been practicing saying "Have a nice day" to everyone on the bus, just to kinda leave a little trail of positivity where I go, y'know? Thank the bus driver, wish the cashier and extra good day, ask them how they're doing, chat with other store clerk; all these little things.
There's no real reason to be anxious, but I sometimes just find myself in that situation. I suppose it is fair to be anxious, you never really know what people are like; but let's think realistically for a second.. I don't think my life is on the line for saying "have a nice day to someone", brain, so calm down a little, 'kay?
It's a tough balance. I see and acknowledge all of you who might be going through a similar situation. We gotta keep trying though. We are wonderful people who are deserving of friendship and fun conversations! We got this, alright? Ganbare! (`∇´)!!

It really really is! It's so easy to look up "oh how to connect with people and make friends", but does that really apply to irl? Like, is that something people my age actually do, or is that more for people in their 30-40s and so on.
I am feeling hopeful though! I'll let you know if I find a thing that worked for me!

I know how that feels, ever since I got out of high school all the friends ive made had to already be friends of my friends, or maybe reconnecting with an old high school acquaintance. I wish you luck in connecting with people!!

Even if I still was in my home country, I'm sure it would've been a bit tough :'D I guess all we can do is keep trying. I'm sure we'll all find some wonderful friends soon, we just gotta keep trying.
You got this as well, I believe in you!
