Aphelion and Perihelion

Aphelion is the point in the orbit of a celestial body where it is farthest from the sun. Perihelion is the point in the orbit of a celestial body where it is closest to the sun.

I remember reading somewhere that love is like feeling the warmth of the sun, both from its perspective and the perspective of the sunburned watcher. The core of the sun is the warmest, and the surface, well, only scratches the surface of the true heat stored within. Every year, the Earth reaches in for a slight embrace, a big kiss of sorts, and retreats back into its orbit. Some blame aphelion and perihelion for the seasons (it Is slightly more complex than that), and that this tumultuous relationship between the two bodies changes the foliage and the colours of the world as we understand it.

Maybe, like me, the Earth suffers from a bit of a disorganised attachment. If it were purely avoidant, it would be winter every day, and if it were purely anxious, the Earth would burst into a confetti of flames. If secure, perhaps every day could be the temperate spring of Australian September. But God, why can't I accept a temperate world? Why does stability of any kind scare me - is it my age, my temperament? Why am I struggling so much to keep a suitable distance from my sun?
