Hey guys!! My zine collecting+uploading website is up! Well it has been for a while, but I wasn't happy with how it looked yet. coded from scratch baby! im really happy with it now, ...now all I have to do is make some zines I'd like to publish, ive only got some sample posts up right now since I programmed the functions first, no real content yet. check it out :DÂ

Look cool, but I have trouble understanding what a zine is. It is said that it's a homemade booklet but the pictures I find on the net look like postcards ? So is it art you put on paper and exchange with others ?
Hey Mephisto:D im so freakin happy you asked! well imagine it like a DIY magazine, so that's where the word zine comes from too. hmm I dont see the postcards but maybe youre talking about when the zines are flat and unfolded. A lot of zines are made from a single piece of paper, then cut+folded to resemble a mini booklet! So it gets small in your hand. That might be what youre seeing ...!

also YES people trade zines a lot. some people sell them, rlly depends... but when i read up about it online people trade them like cards and collect them. I dont know anybody else in my area who does it HENCE the website.! for an online collection. :)

Thanks for the answer ! I said postcards but I guess it's just really well folded papers ^^' The concept is cool, I'm looking forward to see your collection ! Considering I never heard about zines before, how do you find some ? Is it through local communities? Or on the web ?

hmm... I have only been able to find stuff online. I like to browse the zine subreddit (r/zines) which always has cool zines being posted! you get a lot of professional looking ones but also some real deal DIY! really a mixed bag which is sick!
sometimes I also go on Neocities (this is also where i host my site for free) and search up "zine" or "zines" in the website tags. this leads to personal websites and people display their own "line" of zines theyve made there.
I think a lot of zine events happen in more western countries, which i am super jealous of...but thats what the internet is for :) :D

I can't stop browsing that subreddit, I feel like I'm going down a rabbit hole ^^' I kinda wants to make my own now but I'm awful at anything remotely artistic ><
