One would have to subscribe to the idea that there is in fact a soulmate. What if you don't believe in that? I don't see anything wrong with believing or not believing in a soulmate. So for the sake of argument, let's go with the idea that there's such a thing. I think that for me, honesty would be at the very top of the list.
There needs to be some sort of physical attraction, but it's not a deal breaker if they're not super hot because at the end of the day, that's not who we are as humans when it comes to matters of the heart.
You do need that initial attraction in order to want to get to know each other better. And there's another thing that needs to be considered, attraction. While someone may not be beautiful/hot, their other attributes make them seem more physically attractive. For instance, someone may find a brilliant mind very sexy or perhaps their sense of humor.
So for me, I would say: Honesty, sense of humor, someone who gets me, someone who respects me, someone who supports me and my goals(not in a monetary way).
Many people have these qualities, so the question remains, what would make any of them my soulmate? Maybe I'm just too old to believe in that. lol Just find someone who makes you happy. Don't change for anyone. Always know what you want. Your time matters. Don't date someone just because they're there.
