gushing over the monster high gen1 dolls!

monster high gen1 changed LIVES, honestly! although a lot of it is just putting a doll in a slip on dress, with 2-3 solid color-accessories, and then making a themed line out of it, the main 6 really are the peak of its fashion and character design. 

just look at them!! they all stand out from eachother in terms of color schemes, species, and especially fashion! these core dolls alone are a perfect example of doll fashion, while carrying monster high's message of diversity along perfectly!

i got the idea to write this blog because i recently bought creeproduction lagoona, and have been getting mh doll rankings on my feed ^_^ at first i also wanted to do a ranking, but its hard to, with each member of the main 6 being perf in their own ways. so i figured itd be a better idea to focus on the amazing details of each doll, and rant about them! 

frankie

frankie is the new ghoul in school, and her design shows it off super well! this is thanks to her cute plaid dress and her tie with the mh logo on it. but shes still clearly descending from frankenstein, with the hair and cool metallic stitching and accessories everywhere (and her neck bolts... so cool ^_^)! even her shoes give off a frankenstein look with their striped texture! my fav parts of her design are the bag, which breaks up her color pallette, and her cool belt.

draculaura

draculauras preppy aswell, but its obviously in her own way! shes super cute with her pigtails, the heart on her cheek, and her overall pink scheme. but shes kept gothic with the black scattered everywhere, balancing her pallete, and the fishnets on her arms and legs! but her overall look is complete with the uniform-esque top and umbrella, keeping her vampiric. my favorite parts of her design are her boots and top!

clawdeen

shes SO COOL!!! i love how practically everything in her design shows off how she loves fashion. her cool high-boots, especially with the socks under for a layered look. her fur jacket is PERFECT (especially with her being a werewolf), and the patterned top underneath is so fun! i also love how seemingly simple but perfect her skirt looks, and how unique her purse is. fav parts of her design are how she layers, and the purple in her color scheme! (my favorite color...)

cleo

her bandages are a lot to look at, so it makes sense why she doesnt have as much layering but is still a maximalistic doll! it definitely helps with all the gold jewelry she has on, and i like how she has 2 bracelets on one arm, on her wrist and bicep. i also love the detail of the bandage on her other arm dangling a bit. and the sheer blue top completes the whole look to perfection! but my FAVORITE parts are her chunky gold belt and the random gadget on her thigh.

lagoona

shes my second fav!!!!! i love her soooososo much, im not one for sports or anything but lagoonas just so perf and cute. her hoodie is iconic, i like how well it works with her curls, and even the tiny flower in her hair breaks up the color scheme! i also like the idea of the tank top underneath actually being a swimsuit, i havent checked if thats true but its just such a fun and thoughtful idea to me... i love how simple her shorts are but with such minute details in the stitching, and the fishnet shorts under are so unnecessary but at the same time SO perf and fun. the gold jewelry scattered around her is perfect, because its breaking up the cool colors in her pallette AND its like sea treasure she found! i especially adore how cute her face sculpt is, and how fun it is that she carries neptuna around in the most adorable purse. my fav parts of her design are EVERYTHING!!!

ghoulia

ghoulia.... my ultimate fav.... she takes all the BEST parts from scenemo fashion with the knee-high converse and layered tops, while adding her own nerdy flair with the piano belt and headband. i also love how the headband is green, derived from the cherries on her smaller top, and how her cool blue hair contrasts all the red in her outfit perfectly! back to the layering, i love how the long sleeve is striped, and it only goes to her elbows so she can have cool fishnet gloves! its also and off-the shoulder so the straps on her cherry top stand out. her bag is the cutest and the details on it are so fun! fav part of her design is EVERYTHING ^3^!!

overall

these 6 dolls have changed LIVES i think... its so easy to pick a favorite while still loving them all, and theyre such a great introduction to monster high aswell! as a kid i would just pose my dolls and look at all the details of their designs, and i wouldve loved to have more monster high dolls...
