The bonus army

I'm going to start researching stories and historic events overlooked just cause i like learning abt stuff im not in school rn time to kill so y not hope you enjoy.

Imagine this 

You're in a trench with your friends some new couple old normal meetings before world war 1 happened

you see everyone around you falling down around you and the smell of flesh and whats suppose to be inside is now on the outside for some soldiers

you come back exhausted traumatized and scared 

the government seeing recognizing you as a veteran promises you a bonus relief of money for your troubles cause yea money can buy everything right? even patriotism in some cases

you come back home you survived weeks years and months to get here

only to be denied of your bonus you so rightfully deserved and more and on top of that you get tear gassed

for these men they came back and the great depression happened right as they came back from the fall and because in general the economy was suffering congress thought it would be best to not delay their reward or to take names for future reference or SOME form of payback for them but to just flat out deny them. 

protests at Washington at first peaceful every man who fought and some families came to support were just out there waiting out the clock but of course chaos always ensues

in this story congress president Hoover and US senate are the criminals here 

General Douglas MacArthur was a man with a word he requested 75,000 from congress to feed the protestors 

it was an attempt he tried and they denied cause why would they support something they're against

the army was ordered on them to be removed for peace disruption and they weren't any happy they had to do it either

gassing veterans and normal civilians some that weren't even protesting made everyone question who they were fighting for 

one man "Americas flag means nothing to me after this"- civilian protestor not veteran

president hoover fucked up when he gave this statement 'so called  bonus marches"

“An examination of a large number of names discloses the fact that a considerable part of those remaining are not veterans; many are Communists and persons with criminal records.”

what he forgets was who was allowed to fight 

the whole point of the military once you join any background you had before is not a peice or apart of you anymore their whole thing is its a new birth because you're being broken down into something new also leaving your past behind

it was super common for criminals to enlist because there weren't any restrictions for men only the age and the fact well.... that they were men 

as for communists comment that was dumb I'm not even going to brush over that

but this story is an example of if you do for a cause that wont do for you 

you become the man left with lesser than nothing than b4

what are your thoughts on this?  

hehe lol i sound like a teacher i just want to know others thought on this 

(btw after protesting endlessly they eventually did get their bonus 4 years later under president franklin Roosevelts term (they vetoed him lol) but some for their full payment to get the whole sum of money wasnt going to be till 9 years later.)
