i hate when im looking at someone's profile and im like "omg we're so alike they seem super chill we should be friends" and then i see "dni 18+" and have to dejectedly click off.
edit: people keep thinking im complaining that minors don't want to interact with adults, that's not my point. im complaining that i see a cool person id like to be friends with but then realizing they don't want to talk to me because im not in their preferred age range, which is completely fine.
if you see my pinned entry, i have in my dni list "25y+ men" as well as "prob won't interact much with you if you're under 17" so it would be pretty hypocritical to be upset that people have their own boundaries.
not sure why this is getting so much traction but it's kind of annoying so im locking it.

I think that’s fair. I think people who are 18+ should not be trying to talk to minors regardless if you’ve got interests in common.
Even if they don’t have DNI 18+ in bio, the gap between the level of maturity between people is just a not good thing to have.

I've had a few people with that message in their profiles trying to friend me lately even though my profile clearly states that I'm 18, which is pretty hypocritical of them.

yeah i mean i get it bro, I’m mostly in like the age range that people are cool with but there was this really cool art youtuber yk? I watched them all the time and then suddenly they were like “Yo by the way if you’re under 20 i do not feel comfortable with you watching my videos” Like bro what noooo i looked up to you and you just- it sucks man, i wish age didn’t matter like when everyone was a kid. When you’re 4 and you see an 8 year old you just hang out with them if you want to and no one will be like “You can’t do that he’s dubble your age” it just didn’t matter
telling toddlers they can't hang out with each other because they're different ages is so stupid. the kids don't care, it's the adults that are being weird about it.

Personally age doesn't matter to me, anyone's allowed to follow as long as they aren't acting creepy about it. Even if they're like 500 years old, just as long as they're cool.
I get if you're a YouTuber and your videos have crude humor that you don't want influencing young kids, but really? 20+? At that point just paywall it, because kids lie about their age all the time. That would filter out most of them (unless if they're using their parent's card number lol)
