So this is the blog where I will discuss my perspective of what I got out of the series "InuYasha" with Kagome & Kikyo having the same soul. I will ofcourse start from the beginning.
So when watching the series in my youth I found it interesting that Kikyo & Kagome had the same soul, but seemed like 2 different women. Both were great in their own ways, but definitely 2 completely different women. I tried to make sense of this. So growing up I had the religious dogma of Christianity pushed on me at a young age as most people do with a Christian parent or guardian, we tend to not be taught about reincarnation at all due to that belief system. Atleast from my experience of being raised under the denomination of Baptist. So the most understanding I could get of reincarnation was the little bit about it I saw on tv. I saw an episode of "Xena" as a kid where they did an episode where Joxer, Xena, & Gabrielle were reincarnated into modern times. They all still seemed to have their same personalities to an extent in this episode. However, in this episode Ted Raimi played the reincarnation of Xena & Lucy Lawless played the reincarnation of Joxer. Renee O'Connor remained as Gabrielle in this episode. Point being is that they all seemed to be themselves to an extent from what I remember, but just in modern times. Then from what I remember anything I saw from other things in shows I saw on characters being reincarnated, well they seemed to remain the same people to an extent, just in a different time period rather being played in the same body or not. So with the series "InuYasha" was the first time I saw the concept of how reincarnation is evolution of the soul. Now it took me awhile for this to sink in ofcourse. But I watched the series with fascination nonetheless.
So basically Kagome is a more evolved version of Kikyo. That doesn't necessarily make her better than Kikyo. Just it is basically that Kagome is a more evolved version, where this soul evolved into a different mindset. Notice how the goal with Kikyo was to turn InuYasha full human. From her understanding that was the only way she believed they could be together. Where when this soul came to InuYasha as Kagome, well Kagome accepted him for being half demon half human. Kagome didn't want him to change that part of himself & after this soul has been in a more modern time to witness all kinds of different dynamics in relationships, as Kagome she came to realize it isn't so black & white after all. That is is absolutely 100% ok to be in a relationship with a demon/human hybrid. That neither one of them had to change & that her having a shorter lifespan is really just part of the situation both lovers would have to accept. Why in a situation like that it the partner with the shorter lifespan would need to say, "Don't love me for the rest of your life, just love me for the rest of mine." Then also accept that you don't want your partner to remain single & broken hearted after you pass away. That it is completely fine for them to find love again. That is after all ofcourse where unconditional love comes into play.
Basically their dynamic was wild to watch. Two women that shared the same soul wanting the same guy? The guy being torn between two women with the same soul? What a concept to try comprehending for someone from my background indeed. Through that series I learned about evolution of the soul & it was quite the experience. Keep in mind also that in the end Kikyo's spirit gave her blessings to them before transcending into the spirit world for good. So it was part of her process as Kikyo to learn that lesson while a ghost so she can be prepared to become Kagome later on. What I atleast got out of that dynamic.
Now, this is actually true that we are not who we used to be in any of our past lives. Sure we are that soul, but we are in the process of evolving in our life cycles. Rather for better or for the worse, we make our choices. We shape our realities as we go. Also why when it comes to negative members of our soul groups it is best to destroy any negative soul contracts. That ofcourse is another topic for a blog in the future. For now I will just leave this at how I first learned about soul evolution from this series.
