from the lyrics it seems like trent reznor has written this about caring so deeply about this girl who is struggling with depression, trent has gone through the same pit he can relate to her emotions heavily. despite her severe depression and bad mental state trent cares so much about her and would do anything to keep her here, he won't let her fall apart "i won't let you fall apart" she sees her beauty when no one else does. he will try his best to keep her safe but can't when people keep waiting "and picking" picking her apart through her insecuritys.
