HEARTSTEEL and how they stand out compared to other bands

man i havent made a formal blog post in a while. so i apologize if this isnt suuuper formal i will get into the groove as i go along

ive been so entranced by heartsteel since me and my friend mika were talking about getting back into league during nov of last year which! is the time worlds comes around :3 if you dont know every year for worlds theres a special song and years such as 2018 focus on leagues music groups (2018 being kda) ANYWAYS! when i watched the mv for the first time and watched the worlds preformance (I HAVE TO SAY I LOOVVEEE THE ENERGY THE SINGERS GAVE ON STAGE its was perfect esp baekhyun) i was blown away. im not one who likes hip hop but something about their sound and synergy made me want to learn more, i think saying hip hop isnt very truthful to heartsteels sound. its a mix of pop (kpop if u dare) and hip hop which they pull of so well! they talk about this in the interview about how they all had very different ideas and instead of arguing and just going with one idea they mixed all of their ideas together into paranoia. having this sort of mish mash sound going from a low rap straight into a poppy chorus just makes so much sense for them. now you may be like muni who is them??????? ahem heartsteel is a 6 member boy group consisting of; sett (co-leader + rapper), k'sante (co-leader + vocalist), ezreal (vocalist), kayn (rapper + instrumentalist), yone (producer), and aphelios (instrumentalist + song writer) (little side note aphelios is a twin and the way his character is set up hes like a 2 in 1 deal so his twin sister alune is their manager but not a member :D)

i love all these guys sooo much! theyre so endearing yet their energy is infectious (pulling words out my ass its 2am). truly the thing i love about heartsteel is how every single member is so vastly different from one another to quote the gq korea article they took part in, "Although each of the six members speaks a different language, they sing their songs using the language of ‘music’ as their common language." i couldnt have put it better myself the six of them is truly an odd group compared to the perfect manufactured group that is kda and true damage while not being as professional they all share the same idea and sound for their music. at first this might sound odd how could such different people click so well? i will give all the credit to riot because their writing is so amazing they have a vision and will stick to it. while thinking of writing this i tried to think of any other league champions that couldve been apart of heartsteel and truly... no one else fits, its like they were made to become friends and bandmates. in other skin lines some of them do have overlapping skins but dont really have a relationship with one another (exception being settphel)(they gay as fuck). heartsteel really captivated and drew in my attention because of how different it is from other aus, like yes the band concept is not new being the 4th one BUT something about reading the gq korea interview, watching the mv and bloopers, scrolling through all of riot game musics tweets they feel so real and human.

im kinda bouncing all over the place repeating myself but i wanted to touch on their differences. if you just take one look at them you can tell its very diverse group of characters that shouldnt work together as well as they do. you may look at like yone and aphelios and say they look similar but yone is very much a rule follower in the promo photo of whats inside their bags all of his stuff is perfectly arranged along with assigning everyone chores on twitter. even from his outfit you can tell how sharp he is from his perfect ponytail to his simple yet striking design. a aphelios on the other hand while being a man of few words (literally) he isnt reserved and as organized as yone is (but can you truly beat the band mother) i think many people think because aphelios doesnt talk he has no personality or isnt fun but he shows it in other ways. if you look at the promo art of aphelios desk while writing paranoia and look at his notebook you can see silly little doodles of heartsteel he drew, even in league canon alune hints at in her voicelines aphelios being quite loud when off of nocturn (poison that makes him unable to speak) he likes to mess around with his band mates as you see in the mv bloopers video and when heartsteel was tweeting on riot games music him pulling several pranks on his fellow bandmates. now before i move on i must drive this into everyones brain who doesnt know league that despite sett and k'santes build they arent gym rats (i mean yes they are but not personality wise) sett may seem like a himbo but hes actually just a mamas boy, always thinking about his bandmates before himself. he is not stupid or incompetent he adds so much to the band; coming up with heartsteel, helping with their wardrobe, and puts his bandmates before himself. even reading the gq article you can see that he is fun yet takes heartsteel and music very seriously always talking fondly about the people they got to work with and how wonderful of an opportunity this all is. (can you tell im very passionate about sett... nah.) now onto k'sante he is a very chill and casual preferring to take care of his appearance and give his bandmates advice. despite this he isnt self centered in any way he just knows he looks good (which is true) and while yone is called the band mom i consider k'sante the band father because of how laid back he is being the only person able to reason with yone yet he still knows when to be serious. after saying all this stuff about dont judge based off their appearance kayn is exactly how you think he is. hes a mischievous trickster who sold his soul to a demon for fame. but dont take me saying he acts like how you thinks as hes a shallow or lesser than everyone else that isnt my point. kayn looking like an emo kid who never escaped the phase he is a fan of pentakill (metal leagur band) and linkin park respectively and his bag is a complete mess with random pieces of trash in it, some coins, and a whole spraypaint can (T T) he often bickers with his other band mates especially ezreal since they are so similar yet different. now ezreal is a bit tricky.. a lot of people who just know him from heartsteel dont really understand his actual nature. yes he is aloof and energetic but he isnt just this perfect popstar prince he uses it as a mask to hide his true emotions (omg how cliche.... bro im just looking at the wiki.) hes very smart and self centered not having to try much at all to excell. knowing that things like heartsteel bring in non league fans (i am not immune) i just really feel its important to show their true characters because its so important to understanding the draw of the 6 of them.

TLDR of that section: they are not boy twinks but i will call ezreal a booger and twink because its funny and i know its a joke

took me a million years but having described everyones personalities doesnt it seem like an odd group (please say yes please) compared to like kda for example where you have the seductive and beautiful ahri and evelynn and the baddass kai'sa and akali heartsteel is a bit odd. i cant talk for the other two bands since i havent read up on them (heartsteel took over) but i enjoy the fact that theyre so different from the others because it shows their rookie status. the name of the interview being "..heartsteel surpasses kda" and they talk in the article about how much they look up to kda as professionals and wish to one day get to their level (and for akali to answer texts in kayns case)(can they work it out on the diss track) having their music video set in an abandoned lot of sorts (? idk man im autistic not smart) as they mess around with expensive vehicles and the camera movements have a self tape sort of feel to it. im assuming that they broke in because of kayn disarming the alarms in the beginning of the mv so it really signifies how rookie they are they couldnt even get in legally LOL. comparing their self shoot feeling music video to the perfect and pristine kda with cgi and sfxs its endearing to watch them all fumble around :,)

[reading this back for the millionth time i kinda dont understand where i was going with this maybe it was to express my feelings for them and put it into words... theres more things i would love to mention but its harder to make it flow in a blog post vs a couple discord convos where you can see the change in topic. i mainly wrote this for myself and with my friends encouragement to kinda explain my brainrot and so they an understand what im saying (my worst fear yet i continue on...) the point was to show how i think theyre different and unique but i just feel like a broken record forgetting what i wanted to say and just repeating myself. though i dont have much to go off of lore wise its very bare bones so i gotta do some inferring and using league canon for help, i just love my six little lewser boys i think they should all explode and have a comeback asap i cant wait 3 years like kda........ :,(

to end this off i wanted to add some photos (+ concept art) that i didnt really know where to put them in this ramble so ill just end it with them. some of these i mentioned previously ^_^

idk if anyonr will read this outside my friends but if u wanna read the gq korea article or look at concept art this is the link to their wiki page!: https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Riot_Records/HEARTSTEEL]
