if ur lucky like i was you can find a pretty tricked out machine... im talkin full 1920x1080 display, best available processor for the model, 16 gigs of ram... all for LESS THAN A BRAND NEW LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!!

i bought my e580 for $145... you can find the same model on ebay right now for even LESS!!!!!!! and compared to brand new budget laptops thatre upwards of $200... cmon now

hell you can even find the higher end models for around that same price range... on ebay you can find the t480 (often regarded as the last great thinkpad) for like $120 or even less

this is often cuz businesses will throw em out as they upgrade all their machines... either you can snatch em straight from there or you can find em in heaps at electronic recycling stores and all

even on the lower end series thinkpads like the e series these things r sturdy... maybe im jus saying that cuz i have an e series myself but this is still leagues above the budget options in terms of build quality. i could throw this thing down a flight of stairs and it would still work just fine (not that i would ever do that). after all these are business laptops

this only rly applies to older thinkpads tho (around 2018 and prior)... at some point lenovo started to cheap out on the lower end models and make em all thin and sleek and shit... and thats rly up to preference but personally thinner laptops just feel weaker to me

the great thing about having an older machine is that it wont have the stupid BULLSHIT that new machines have... user removable batteries, upgradable RAM, a socketed CPU if you go far back enough... this means that instead of buying a new machine when your current one is slow, you can just... upgrade the parts in your current machine. and similarly, if shit breaks all you need is a new part and some basic repair skills

and this is why you gotta go for the older ones cuz also at some point lenovo started to pull the same STUPID BULLSHIT that other manufacturers are... soldered RAM, riveted keyboards, and for WHAT???????? LOWER MANUFACTURING COSTS???????? SOMETHING THINNER??????????
