People Remember How You Make Them Feel

Today while my parents had some company over for dinner, we had dove deeper into conversation. My dad said something that really stood out to me, and it's my thought for the day.

It doesn't matter what was said, people will always remember the way you made them feel.

This could have so many different meanings for different situations. What comes to mind at first is first impressions; a friendly smile is what welcomes a stranger. Pleasantries are meaningless, but being open creates a comforting energy. This new person will remember your energy. Your cool, kind, weird, freakbutt energy. lmao but I just switched to a new school this year, and what I hope the new people I meet will look at me and remember a welcoming energy.

But as I said, this has different meanings to it. Old friends. People who you don't talk to anymore. I've had friends in the past, as we all have, who have eventually fallen through on maybe not the best terms. Not as a sudden thing though. It was always gradual. We start off best friends, and eventually, after being pushed aside time and time again, friendships are broken off. That feeling of isolation while still being in a room full of people will always be associated with those ex friends, and I'll never forget how they pushed me aside like that. I have forgiven them, as I can recognize that I'm not perfect either. Once in a while one'll ask me how I'm doing, and we chat for a bit. But they'll never be more than an acquaintance, for always making me feel like one.
